Best view in Shropshire is the Wrekin and a bend in the River Severn as the sun goes down when sitting in the beer garden of The Riverside Inn in Cound
Simply stunning, especially with a decent sunset making the water reflect orange / red colours

The best view in shropshire is from hope. My inlaws own a house with a view to die for. On a clear day you can see from the wrekin over to the welsh border.
Other good views include The coors stadium from the road, Bridgnorth from the far corner of the football ground and of course the meadow from anywhere.
I don't want to semingly knock AFC but the ground is soulless and the area it is in is a dump(quite literally).

I travel to wolverhampton every day and the best view has to be comming over Overley hill out of Telford towards Shrewsbury and seeing the Shropshire plain to the left and the South Shropshire hills to the right, I feel home, if iv'e been on holiday it brings a tear to my eye and if I had to die it would be here. damn you lot - reminding me what i am missing. high vinnals, clee hill, long mynd, that view as described in the initial post are all vivid memories of what Shropshire is to me. One day I shall return to really appreciate it all , and explore more of our beautiful county. Only been away for a matter of months and there is nothing, absolutley nothing to compare to it here.

Agree with Harmer, having worked in Telford for 7 years coming off the m54 and over that hill was heaven, did anyone else notice how often it rains on that little hill, not a cloud anywhere but the number of times there would be a slight drizzle, think it was a warning that you were aproaching Telford!!

I think it would be fair to say that Shropshire is a beautiful county.
Before any telford residents get upset I would like to add I live in Telford.
The only thing that lets the county down is telford as a whole.
There are some nice parts such as Ironbridge but It kind of lets the rest of the county down. The town centre is a mismatch of different styles and some very loud colours. The council buiilding is and abo$!ute eysore.
On the plus side the new part of the shopping centre is very attractive and there is a lot of greenery about.
Oakengates is very untidy, Wellington is OK, Dawley is a village pretending to be a town.
The planners of the 1960s ,70s and 80's have an awful lot to be assamed off.
However what will they be saying about Telford in 100 years time?
Will they be waxing lyrical about the period housing that needs to be preserved? or the offices that are a reflection of the time?
I can highly reccomend Restoration on BBC every sunday and tuesday at 9:00pm if this subject is of interest to you.
A great opportunity to save britains heritage.

Do you know, i actually never consider Telford to be part of Shropshire although it clearly is. I never mention it when ever i describe our county to anyone unlucky enough not to have witnessed it for themselves. Is that my own peculliarity or do others think that Telford would be better suited if it was pulled into the Midland conurbation

Totally agree Jamo. The sign for Shropshire should be at the top of that hill just off the end of the M54 as I described at the top of this thread.

I always think of Telford as part of Shropshire, even if they are a separate Authority. The industrial heritage is very much part of Shropshire's history, and that is not changed by one or two unsightly developments. The Severn Gorge, from Leighton onwards, and including the Power Station, is a great view. I also have a great view over Pontesbury Hill, Stiperstones and other Shropshire Hills from the kitchen at work. Tme for tea

If you speak to the Land Registry Telford is not part of Shropshire. It is in a region called The Wrekin.
The town does lack a soul. There is no centre to it. and the boundary seems to extend to the surrounding countryside.
You could always say any view that doesn't include Telford is good.

Priorslee Village is very nice and a reminder of how nice it used to be to live here, but all the new estates are awful and have destroyed what used to be some nice scenic countryside. You can get a lovely view of the nice part of Priorslee from the Priors Lodge on top of the hill. Shifnal isn't too bad either...

telford is a blot on the map of shropshire lets blow it up, telford is just out of place beuaty all around it then a s**t hole placed in the middle of it, i travel through the west midlands daily and it would be much better suited to dump it over there somewhere, if anyone asks me where im form, i'm embaressed to say telford , i'll always say shropshire. telford and the majority of its inhabitants are very similar.

I was born in Shrewsbury but bred in Telford, I am something of a rare breed, I'm from Telford and have no Black Country connections My dad's side from the family have lived in Madeley, SHROPSHIRE for donkey's years before Telford new town was ever thought of! Stoke City Council is a metropolitan borough council but Stoke is in Staffordshire, Southend Council is a metropolitan B.C. but Southend is in Essex, as someone who REALLY has family roots in East Shropshire I can tell you I am a 110% Shropshire Lad and wont let anyone else tell me otherwise, Telford is in Shropshire whether the people of Telford or Shrewsbury like it or not!

Shropshire over all is the most beautiful county in England. While I agree that Shropshire is a beautiful County, it is stretching it a bit to say that it is THE most beautiful. How can it be? it has Telford in it, which does tend to bring the overall rating down in terms of beauty. (Im not Telford bashing, its a fact, you have to take into account there are dome "beautiful" parts of Telford, around Ironbridge, Jackfield, etc) For me, the most beautiful County is Devon, with stunning sea views along the jurassic coast, and Dartmoor to name just two. There isn't a urban area like Telford in Devon, unless you include Plymouth, but Plymouth in itself has great views, and it also has a history.

Ahhhh but technically speaking telford isn't in Shropshire according to the land registry.
Point taken. Devon is very beautiful as is somerset and cornwall. I think it is safe to say we have "World Class" countryside.
When we do get a clear rain free day It makes all the bad weather seem worth it.

its got to be the end of M54 seeing the Shropshire plain ahead of you, especially on a Saturday morning of a match.
Devon is bootiful too, but parts of Plymouth are a dump, but same as any large City.
You get a good view also from the top of the Column if they ever let you go up these days. When I was yoing you could get the key from the Shirehall and go up unaccompanied, but they're probably afraid of getting sued if anyone jumped now.
