I'm Looking to start organising the Summer open day for the club from next week. I would love everyone to give me their thoughts, ideas, suggestions, things to avoid and any services or attractions they would like to offer for the day.
I am looking at the date being the Sunday 11th July but this is subject to me clearing it with Jimmy.
I will check the posts here for suggestions but if to guarantee I see your suggestion please email me direct. Mark@shrewsburytown.co.uk.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Mark

Aye, I like that idea Bazeus!
I'm not sure what the usual drill is with opening the players bar on the open day but I certainly think it'd be a good idea.
Also - maybe a brief question and answer session with JQ?

A possible Funfair type thingy like you might find at the car boot. A clown in outfit to walk around making up and giving out those usual ballons it might help make it more of a family event if theres something for the young'ns

How about 'have your photo taken with the playoff trophy' - I'd happily pay to have that.

Mark, would it worth enquiring about those Bungee Jump things you see advertised often done in pub car parks , very often the jump is free if the money goes to charity, plenty of space at the back of the Station End , and it probably attract non footy fans to the event and more families ?

a penalty competion against Howie or Hart is an excellent idea also a photo taken with the trophy is also top - anything up to £5 would be perfect bar open would be great. discounts for the day?

There must be some mileage in some merchandise (i.e. t-shirts) playing on the Howie penalty saves!?
Or re: a pen shoot out with Howie - if you score you get a t-shirt saying "I've scored a pen against Scott Howie"! Collectors items them ;D
The players bar being open would be a good idea too Ant - with big screens replaying the best of the season/play offs/play off final...etc.

How much would it be worth to have your pic taken with it do you think ? I have no idea to be honest sorry. I guess it's a case of how much it would cost to get the photo printed etc. then setting a decent profit margin on top. I guess Whitters or mattsnapper may be able to help you there. You could even have two choices - have the photo printed at the club or just get the photo on disk?

if its easier you could just pay £5 or so to lift the cup and then let someone take a pic with ur own camera

i think it is a great idea to have your photo taken with the cup BUT £5 is a bit steep for familes with kids - who all want their photo taken 'by themselves with the trophey'!
i know the club shop does a good trade on open days, it was packed last year - and the waiting to get in there was 'forever' suggestion - somethings on sale in the sponsers bar?

It may be worth doing 2 options on the photo with the trophy.
Fans can have the option of paying a smaller sum to take a picture with their own camera
or you can have the option for a professional photographer to take one.
I would go for the pro, as I want it to be a quality photo

Last years open day, you had the chance of getting autographs from the players on a small programme. I thought it might be a good idea to have a few team photo's up for sale where the players could sign by their profile. It could raise a few quid for the club and at the same time give any possible newcomers (supporters) the chance to recognise individual players.
I also like the idea of a Photo with the trophy another way of making a few bob.

i think having a pic taken with the trophy should be free and if announced would be a good crowd puller
beat the keeper or even attempting to save a luke rodgers pen is definately worth pushing, although being allowed on the pitch is probably doubtful
