Yep. Things are very unlikely to change and it looks like a maximum of 108 for a supporter's bar.
Also, the community pitches ain't going to happen. There will just be 2 grass pitches.
I'm concerned. Very concerned.

Why is that?
or is this purely down to lack of room as the council will build on there too?

Not good news. Was there any indication of whether its just down to the plans and their constraints or the budget restrictions? If cash is a factor can any fundraising from supporters groups help, or is there any way that a brewery can buy into the idea of a 7 day facility?

First of all lets give credit to Mr Sayfritz and Mr Whitrick(board members) along with Mr Harry Wilson(Architect) and Mr Wingrove(Chief Exec) for making the effort to turn up to the meeting and the OSC for organizing it.
OK things do not look too clever, but the club have to work within the 'footprint'. In other words what they have been given permission to build.
There is a lot of scope for something to be done, but what the club do not want is a great big room used for two hours a week for 'the lads' to have a beer.
The board are right behind a supporters bar, but it cannot be accomadated in the plans that have been passed to the size we would like to see.
Plans are been drawn up by supporters to put a proposal to the board so watch this space.

Sorry Andrew, got to disagree mate.
I'm a positive as anyone, but we're bolloxed.
As for the OSC - cheers for opening and closing the meeting is a corret summary.
I'll do anything I can to make a 300 seater supporters bar a reality. But I was disheartened tonight.

While ever the club are battling the council its going to be hard and from what we were told tonight the council are not going to help at all. What I would like to see is a stand alone building for a supporters bar and changing facilities for the community pitches and why not have the STFC training ground incorparated in there too. The council could do so much more to help this along.

I think the fans there grew up tonight.
Chris Smith, Gareth Hopkins, Ian Jones and Rob Fox in particular made important contributions.
I also enjoyed the contribution from the lady from junior blues.
Don't forget the fans are the football club - nobody else.
And so when we do raise money for things it shouldl be the football club's money because we control it and not because we hand a giant cardboard cheque over to the football club at half-time.
Between the council - and the irrepairable damage done by the likes of Albie Fox - and the football club's exhaustion from getting permission and getting funds for the New Meadow there is a massive role for the football fans.
A football club at this level has to be part of the community in which it operates. Irrespecitive of what the council says. Never rely upon politicians to resolve your problems for you. The club's fans are part of that community too. There are massive things that we can do in this area to salvage those things.
The size of the bar is symptomatic of the football club's strategy currently - i.e. someone who sits down to a meal and a drink will pay more money than someone who has a pie and a pint.
We're not here to just have more money pumped out of us.
Keith Sayfritz made the remark - partly in response to Chris Smith's eloquent contribution - that people do not come forward to invest in the club with big bucks - the people who come forward with more than £4,000 at a time can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
Now there's a thought.

No community pitches, thats was half the argument for this site in the first place So what do the local residents get two muddy pitches which the players use. Tiny supporters bar which you couldnt swing a Shrew in Blue and white seats.......WTF.......we are not Chester or anyone else of those colours, wea re STFC - Blue and Amber! Dont let them sweet talk you about the footprint is all they have to play with. You can submit a planning application to vary the details of the plans, it will cost next to nothing. The building behind the main stand only covers the middle third of the stand. It could easily be extended either side. There is nothing stopping the Club applying for a standalone facility either. So all the year round extra income will be from a medium sized function room, well that will really keep our Chief Exec run off his feet.

The directors are very confident of getting a high level of use of the three function rooms throughout the week.
The situation with planning permission is as you say Tim. There is a massive concern about going for planning permission for any extention in the early stages of building because of it going before councillors rather than officers. But the architect confirmed that this could be done before the site was occupied should adjustments need to be made.
I thought Ian Jones was right in saying that there was nil chance of something exclusively for bar use being easily passed by the council without difficulty. But multiple use is possible. That's what the creche is for example.
At this time the budget is £250,000 overspent. (it was £1million in November).

In planning terms an extension to extend the block behind the main stand would be hard for SABC to refuse given the context of what is actually being built. Ironically anyone could make a planning application for this to happen. You dont have to own the land. Provided you notify the owners (STFC) and pay the right fee and fill out the necessary forms to SABC even a 2 year old could make a planning application I think you last bit sums up the real reason though, the ground is being built on the cheap. Deva Mark 2 anyone

Its OK saying amendments could be done, but will they? Only if there is a business reason for doing so - and we will have to provide tht business reason.

Take it white seats are cheaper to obtain than amber seats? Would it be worth asking Mansfield on how they obtained their amber seats?
The NM really does sound like its going to be built as a 'bargain basement' stadium.

Only if there is a business reason for doing so - and we will have to provide tht business reason. Quite clearly Sean it looks like the fans that will be investigating the buisness case, but my argument is why should we? After all the directors claim to be businessmen and in charge of the ship. However, it seems to be the fans making all the good ideas and being forced to justify them. STFC should be doing this themselves if they want to be successful.

Tim, the organisational strain that has been put on the football club in getting this far has been massive. If the club can do the basics - as it sees it - of sponsorship of the ground/stands and concourse facilities, and getting the first floor hospitality sorted, whilst keeping things within the budget then I don't see there will be much beyond that which it will do.
Meanwhile the football club has to focus on maintaining its Football League status.

I'm sorry to say this but....... s**t ground, no fans!!!!!! I can see it now in a couple of years down the road. We have such a short sighted board, who I wonder if they care about the bog standard supporter. Why on earth didn't they take us into consideration when they sat and designed the bloody plans and not think about themselves and their own comforts. Just waiting for PILCH now to change the B&W message board . Nice little money earner coming up, with the new Blue and White shirts scarfs etc. After what I heard last night from the meeting, I feel shat on from a great hight. If it wasn't for the love of the club, I would be organising mass boycotts at certain match's to show my displeasure

Nightmare boys I dont think they have a clue how little though they hva eput into the supporters bar and other things Not even sorted the execs out yet!!!! All this is 4 years too late I think we have 0% chance of an extension and its going to be stand alone. I think i was most dis hartend by the fact that the fans must prove with a buisness case that a supporters bar is viable but they would give not one single fact or figure on the case for the current lay out other than "we know a man that will fill it" The sudden revalation of the lack of community pitchs really got me - there is no way now the club can try and attract busness from people useing an array of sport facilitys during the week now (more oppertunitys lost) The most pleaseing thing was the passion of the assembed guest who refused to take the curret set up - i along with others have pledged to help if im ever needed to try and make the case for this bigger facility, and i think the whole of B and A will support it as well. I will keep my personal feelings on Safriz and Starkey to myself for the time being Oh and nice of Bill Wingrove to say nothing the whole night but he did enjoy the 2 no doubt free J2O's he drank

The bottom line is we will drink where we have always drank and eat where we have always eaten and catch a bus to the ground at 2.30 with the other 3,800 fans who have naff all to do at New Meadow There will be beer served in the concourses which is a small bonus The board have given the fans an opportunity to constructively put together our proposals let's use that opportunity wisely Last night we had two out of three directors, the chief executive and the architect at a meeting That simply would never happen at most other clubs This is a step by step process, we are talking about the football satdium we want in five years time not twelve months It is an absolutely howling omission and a real kick in the groin for any fan of STFC, agreed, but if we turn on each other now then we don't get anything We need to prove we can make money, we need to show that we have the determination and guile to make this a successful business proposition and our board has publicly given us the opportunity to do so Either we can get in a huff and never get anything or we can channel our frustration into something positive for ourselves. If at that stage they say no then we can justly be properly angry, but we have been given the chance so let's take it and at least give it a shot

The have evidently seen how much cash can be made for a similar space elsewhere and want a bit of that themselves
We have to show where clubs are making a bit of cash from a supporters bar and put that forward as a business case

Just a thought and I apologise if it has been mentioned before somewhere, but is there a 'Power League' in Shrewsbury?
(Like the one behind The Brittannia Stadium)
