Sorry but I think the loss of Jemson to Lukes game is highly over rated. Two seasons ago Luke was as good as any striker in this league on his own. His goal against Rochdale (3 seasons ago?) didnt come from Jemson, it came from his own class. The real trigger for Lukes bad form has come from us not letting him go. He may run around allot and try his best, but the real passion and confidence he used to have for scoring goals has gone, perhap its a subconcious thing but I dont think his heart is in it anymore. Its not that we're struggling either as i though he improved the most as a player the season we went do. Great Post

To think he was the most feared striker in div 3 a few years ago and wanted by Chelsea too - no wonder he looks gutted all the time! Hey ho

was a legend under Ratcliffe
Quinn cut his confidence and flair AND he missed Jemson, not only as a playing partner but also as a mentor
As a professional im sure he will listen and be enthused by the words of GP and Chic rather than David Cooke OBE

The two things that Gary P has said regarding Luke: 1) He needs a partner to suit his game 2) Need to concentrate with him on getting into scoring positions. Gary P was confident that Luke still has his pace. We'll know in a few games whether the old Luke will ever be back.

Quite funny this, cos at tuesdays game I was discussing the very same thing. Scoring rate crap, but then noone else is scoring either. Positives from his game are his pace and the fact he loves running at people. therefore why not swap him and Rob. Play Luke wide right,(from where he can always come inside and score a few anyway), and play Rob and Langmead up front. Any more positional problems you need solutions to please just ask

I also think the switch Luke and Rob idea is worth a try.
Our opponents realise that Luke is our danger man and counter him by having 1 man mark him closely, bumping him when he gets the ball, and others backing up to form a screen so Luke has to run across goal instead of directly towards it. This is made easy for them because we have no one to play the ball accurately through or over the defence for Luke to run on to.
Rob is probably our only man with the vision to do this, but I don't see him playing centre mid.
If Luke played wide right he would have fewer markers, more room and better service. He would have the choice of cutting in for goal or going for the bye line and getting crosses in.
Don't suppose it will happen, though.

Rob is probably our only man with the vision to do this, Blunkett's got better vision that Lowe... he just fires the ball across without looking up hence why most of the time they just fly straight over to the far side of the box or fail at the first man....

"Blunkett's got better vision that Lowe... he just fires the ball across without looking up hence why most of the time they just fly straight over to the far side of the box or fail at the first man...." b******s, he has more vision than any player in the squad IMO (maybe Smith but hes injured). The reason he doesnt look up when crossing it is probably to do with the proximity of the defender to him, he has a split second to wrong foot the man and put it in. When he has time and space Ryan is quite creative.
