The plans include a functions room with a 330 capacity - but this will on match days will be divided up into lounges for the sponsors, the executive club and those taking up a match day entertainment package.
The supporters bar need not double as a function room because there is no need for two large capacity functions venue. What we need is a reasonably sized lounge/bar that can cater for those that would rather drink in a club atmosphere rather than in the concourses under the stands.

At my advanced age and after driving nearly 80 miles I am not going to stand around a concourse. Besides, those bars serve gassy rubbish.

I generally have my pre game drink in the Crown (AF) but I've also been in the Dun Cow, Bricklayers, Telesports and Abbey Hotel. I reckon those 5 will have over 200 fans between them pre game. I've never been the town side of the English Bridge or Coleham but I'd be suprised if another 200+ didn't drink there. Places like Rochdale, Exeter and Lincoln have plenty of boozers near to their grounds, New Meadow does not. Given the lack of an alternative I'd be not suprised if at least 500 people used the supporters bar on a regular basis. Great post Dave. But I'd double your numbers. The Telepost alone has at least 100 people in there on a Saturday match day. Sometimes you could double that as it is heaving in there. The Crown as well must have at least 200 people in it. Would be interesting to get an estimate off Scotty, as it is always packed in the hour or so prior to a game. Add to this the numbers who go for a drink after a game as well. Ok, a lot go home, but the Telepost must have about 30-40 regulars and the Crown probably sees around 100 people back in there. WAKE UP STFC - YOU ARE LETTING YOUR SUPPORTERS DOWN AND TURNING YOUR BACK ON A POTENTIAL GOLDMINE

We usually go straight home after a game, but if there was a decent facility at New Meadow we would go for a drink while we waited for the car park to clear. It would also be good to see the other results and have CTV transmitting post match interviews.

Getting ShrewsWorld extended to broadcast from 2pm onwards in the bar/toilets/concourse is a minimum I reckon.

Can anyone who hasn't voted, please do so? The more votes, the more credible our basis to go to the club. As stated on the pinned thread, we intend having an informal meeting around 7 o clock in the Telepost tomorrow to get any more ideas etc. I'll post something up later in the evening. Anybody get any more info on other clubs bars? if so, can you email it to garethhop@yahoo.com? Cheers

I won't be using it, that's for sure. GM has what seems like 100 pubs within a twenty minute walk, so always somewhere to go and have a pint of decent ale and avoid the sorts of people you like to avoid.
No way I'm paying £2-odd for keg John Smith's surrounded by the worst sort of replica-shirt wearers (and would they want to drink with a miserable two-bar scarf wearing traditionalist like me).
I already pay £14 to sit on my rare trips to the GM, add a few quid onto that for the privelege of a new ground and I'm buggered if STFC/Alaska etc. get any more of my money!

To be honest Cynical, the way you act I doubt anyone would give a monkeys if you used it at all.

Yes JP, I'd say the fact that Cynical shrew has revealed he won't use a supporters club facility at the NM should be a massive mandate to ensure it goes ahead
