Scunny bar is 200 capacity (I asked yesterday) and was about 75% full at 2.45 yesterday when I blagged a quick look around With only a couple of pubs in the vicinity of the Scunny ground and a 4.5k attendance I would say that we wouldnt want to aim much higher than that for our bar. Perhaps 300 would be a reasonable capacity?

I think me & Terry are the only ones who are bothered about this. For gods sake 30 people have viewed and only 3 voted wake up please. The board could get to read this, so vote PLEASE

if we have ambittions of playing championship football we should really be aiming for a 500+venue.
It doesnt have to be one large venue, partitions/movable walls can be put up to split the venue accordingly.
The club want a ground fit for the championship? I want a supporters bar fit for a ground with ambittions of hosting such football.

I remember it being pretty bloody full ;D I think this kinda info is needed to show the board what a pathetic offer they are making. The capacity of others clubs like Kiddy and Walsall should be comparable as well. Thing is with some of these directors they probably haven't been near a supporters club in years, to busy hob nobbing it in the boardroom

The bigger the bar the more cash that can be generated.
500+ would be fine.

300 is ample. How many times would we fill a 500+ social club? Once or twice a season, if that? Let's be reasonable

Please see other post with regards possible meeting.
Could I ask people to contact the Supporters Clubs at Exeter - Centre Spot, Torquay - Boots and Laces, Lincoln City - Centre Spot, Rochdale - Ratcliffe Arms, or any other examples you might have and find out the following :
What is your matchday capacity? Do you have restriction on matchdays to entrance? - ie supporters club members only? What is the cost of membership if any? What events do you put on - ie matchdays , non matchdays - ie pool, darts team etc.
If people could do that and pm me with the info that would be fantastic.
Basically we have got until the end of year to get a proposal to the club with regards this.
Notice of a meeting with regards the Supporters Facilities will be posted over the next coupel of days, but is likely to be on December 13th @ the A.R.P.B. 7.30 p.m.

Lets not forget if away fans are allowed to use it you have top cater for at least 100/150 people also.
Away at scunny on saturday there were 2 nearby pubs only and the supporters bar where away fans are not allowed, both were in my estimation between 80/100 Town fans in them and we took a small folowing.

As a current licensee i would recommend in going for a capacity off 500. The board need to ensure they employ the right kind of person to run the bar and catering operation, this means paying a decent salary or some kind of profit share on the catering side. A large room with a dance floor will encourage people to book their private functions at the N M. Real ales, quatity wines and some happy staff would also help.

I spoke to Scotty Landlord of the Crown abbey forgate yesterday afternoon and he can't believe the club haven't made a huge Supporters bar, considering what else is on offer in the area. Its beyond belief they can't calculate where all the regular beer drinkers are going to go before the game. If you say on average at a home game of 3500, you would probally have at least 500 going somewhere for a pre match drink, what will happen when we fill the 10,000 stadia?

the club have got to ensure the N M is made available to everyone in shrewsbury and the surrounding areas to make it a success. This could at times be a problem on saturday nights if there is a private function booked or is it best to leave it for fans to use on match days ? whatever the outcome it will still be good for the club

I generally have my pre game drink in the Crown (AF) but I've also been in the Dun Cow, Bricklayers, Telesports and Abbey Hotel. I reckon those 5 will have over 200 fans between them pre game. I've never been the town side of the English Bridge or Coleham but I'd be suprised if another 200+ didn't drink there.
Places like Rochdale, Exeter and Lincoln have plenty of boozers near to their grounds, New Meadow does not.
Given the lack of an alternative I'd be not suprised if at least 500 people used the supporters bar on a regular basis.
