This is going to be contraversial no doubt, bearing in mind some of the relationships that Shakey built with people on here, but I'm curious so going to ask anyway...
what is Shakey's motivation for doing what he is doing at the moment?
A Hereford fan and employee, becomes a Town employee (and fan?) and built relations with the fans, and is now interim director at AFC Telford.
Fair play to him, he seems to be having the same effect on Telford fans as here, but this does seem a strange route to take.
Does he just love football, wherever, or is he after a job??
Why have the Telford fans taken so readily to someone with close ties to us? They must know he's not a Telford fan, so aren't they wary about someone like this getting involved - another Shaw/Poole/Abramovic but with less (no?) money??
This is a genuine question, not a dig or a slight, I was surprised he popped up trying to help Telford that's all. Maybe if I knew him personally I'd be less surprised.

I was surprised when he got involved with us, assuming him to be a Town fan. However, he's been fantastic in the last couple of months, fighting to save us and now setting up the new club. I don't know the guy well but I presume he's doing it because he's a 'fan of Shropshire football' who doesn't want to see football in Telford die. And being the director of a football club, at whatever level, must have its perks.

After a job? No. He owns his own business which is going extremely well.
The guy loves football. I had a long chat with his wife yesterday and the hours he's spending working with the new club, and the hours he put into trying to save the old TUFC are nothing short of tremendous.

I don't doubt that for a minute Ant, just trying to understand why.

I don't think there needs be a reason why someone loves football, and getting involved in it as much as possible.

Shakey has dealings with the PFA and TUFC needed advice and help at the time.
People in football help each other all the time, its nothing new.
He felt he could offer his experience and TUFC saw his value.

To be honest- didn't he receive unfair treatment at the hands of the board at STFC? After he'd been ill- and not long after he'd talked of getting back to work?
There was a lot of speculation, at the time- on this board, too, as to whether he went- or whether he was pushed.
Since he loves Football- it must give him a lot more satisfaction to help Telford out, than to just run the business.

Let him do what he wants to do.
I am town through and through, but I would love to be involved with the running of another club, even if it is telford.
How could anyon turn down such an exciting challenge?

I guess that's where we differ Pete, and perhaps why I asked the question. If it was Town I'd love to get involved and help run it - but another club, like Telford, no thanks.

so you saying Trevor Birch shouldnt have gone to chelsea then leeds and now everton after playing for us..? That mean wayne clarke or chris murphy shouldnt have joined telford..? That mean Challis and Whitehead shouldnt have joined us..? live for the future man...

so if a footballer or manager has supported another club all their lives and their current club happen to be the opponents then they should lay down for them for love? and also a very good response from mattsnapper

That mean Challis and Whitehead shouldnt have joined us..? live for the future man... that's a different issue Matt - they were doing their job. People have stated that they believe Shakey is doing it for other reasons - love of football perhaps? A better analogy might be Ridsdale and Barnsley...... I don't think most people's view of that was generally positive.

but risdale was not a physio who decided to get involved with the running of another club
If shakey thinks he can make a go of this then good luck to him.
Its very different looking from the outside in than frm the inside out in football

shakey is a physio by trade... he helps people get better, he treats the wounded
telford were wounded and they needed his valued help
he who cares what people think is doing things for the wrong reasons

Personally, I think shakey wants to see the good guys come out on top and can play a major part in this. I also feels he has lots to offer a football club, in many different areas and sees this as a way of growing himself within a role, hopefully while the club is growing too! I know I have put a lot of time and effort into things over the last few weeks, but they are insignificant compared to what Shakey has done! I think he wants to prove a point too!

In fariness that was not even remotely controversal!!! Here the question on my mind Shakey spearheads a unbelieavle rise from the ashes at AFC Telford and gets them league footy - they play us on the final day of a league season and the loser returns to the conference What do we all think of Shakey then ( and he knows im not really being serious before anyone starts!!!) Its is a thought though

Its is a thought though The opposing physio is treating his own goalie and shakey has to go on the field to repair the wounds of the opposing striker who clashed heads with the said goalkeeper. The striker gets back on his feet and is stitched up and goes on to score a hat trick and Town lose...

Rob and I spoke to Shakey just before the charity auction at telford to try and raise funds and I honestly got the impression he does, as people have already said, whatever he can 'for the good of football'. He donated countless itmes to the auction from his own shop of varying degrees of value - despite the fact that telford probably wouldnt have done the same for us, Shakey insitied that thats not what football is about. Goodluck to him in whatever he chooses to do, at whatever club.

Shakey is one of the nicest guys involved in football. By helping another club through the worst time in their history just shows this! I wish him all the best with his position at Telford.

Im think he will do well at telford, they need some one the commitment drive and get up and go that shakey would bring. I am sorry that it happened this way but from what you here (i know that not all rumours are true) but he appears to have had some poor treatment by the club
