gate 7,012
Apology please from those who called us " Amateurs" and worse. Do you know how demoralising it is to read such things before a game? We try to make decisions to help supporters not to make life more difficult. How come everyone knows best on these occassions?
All those who arrived at Gay Meadow before three were let in,that is a terriffic effort by all concerned. I'm sure you'll hear of people with priority cards who didn't get in, but they had the opportunity to gain access early.
those who came at 3-10 and 3-15 well, they were not allowed in I admit.
We don't just pluck these decisions out of mid air you know, WE're always in a no win situation.
rant over.

Judy, some people are born to moan As you've said, you are in a no win situation. Off field things have improved dramaticaly, and for what it's worth you're doing a great job Keep it up. C'MON SALOP

Well done Judy. As I said in my email, I think it would have been better and easier for yourselves if it was all ticket (and I stand by that), but fair play for the organisation on the day. Spot on from where I was sitting. We're lucky to have you as a secretary!

Good post Judy BUt can I ask why the entrance turnstiles to the Wakeman and Riverside were closed so early. I arrived at 2.30 hot foot from Reading to be told by a steward that they were full. I got into the away seating area, officially and looked across to see lots of room at both ends of the Riverside and there seemed to be plenty of elbow room in the Wakeman too! Perhaps it was an optical illusion? Maybe people who were in those areas can put me right.

The meadow holds a lot more than the official capacity. Im one of those that harranged the club for not making it all ticket. I put up my hands and say I was wrong and Im sorry for doubting the clubs judgement. ( Didnt call you amatuers though ) A great day

It might have been a different story had we not have been on Sky. By the way, how many people were locked out of the Riverside / Wakeman and did they have to pay extra to sit down? I was lucky enough to get in the ground as soon as the gates eventually opened.

Yes well done for getting everyone in but surely the fact that we won is a bit more important than point scoring.

Glad that you are pleased it worked out and you got people in.
From my position I am in a lot of pain having to get there as early as we did, and my 4 year old couldn't stand for the game as he was so tierd. He kept having to sit on the terracing. Obviously the effect that had on us both wouldn't have been so if it had been all ticket and we needn't have felt pressurised into arriving at just gone 1.30. I'm of course not asking for personal treatment - but pointing out there are other things to consider. I can't see that we are the only family that would have had problems.
I never called anyone an amateur, and my concerns were based on being a parent, knowledge of my own medical condition, and my experience of working in football.
I appreciate that it may be disheartening your end - it is also for some that have to deal with the situation they found themselves in.
I am not a moaner either - just someone who felt very put out that a priority card seemed not to have been worth it and who has stressed out all week about how the logistics of getting us to the game from a distance.
It was a geniune concern that could have been eased with it being all ticket and I stand by that thought too.

So if there was only 7012 in the ground why were people turned away?If our capacity is 8000 then there was room for them surely?

Ah but half of the seating was given to Salop. Which was then taken up.
Also it states on B+A that Barnet only had 1500 tickets. They brought about 1200

There was a ridiculous amount of room in the Wakeman End and the Riverside but rules are rules and the spare tickets and places were in the Barnet end.Remember the full house against Man utd when you could have swung a cat in the riverside and not hit a soul.

I am a season ticket holder and this is my first comment on this matter. I feel the club have come a long way in recent years in helping the fans and becoming more fan friendly. I think todays game should have been made all ticket as a "full house" was likely to happen with so much riding on the game, and the part time glory hunters wanting to get in on the act and also long distance fans who cannot afford to travel in every game travelling in for the game. There did appear to be plenty of room in areas of the Wakemen End terrace and i was surprised when the announcement came 25 mins before kick-off that the gates were closed.
I travel in from Telford and left half an hour earlier than normal as i was more concerned about parking rather than getting in the ground. I was glad i did as i got on the ground at about 2.45pm and just about got in my usual spot on the riverside, this not helped as an area close by was cordoned off as a camera was there!!
I thought a good job was done by all concerned, but i think the other comments on this matter need to be taken into consideration for other future big games.
Note to Judy, you can't please all the people all the time, but you can please some of the people some of the time. All in all a good day, but lets have good ticket arrangements for the final as demand may outstrip supply. First refusal to season ticket holders on production of books and then to priority card holders and then the rest, sounds fair to me.

I knew i forgot to mention something!!
Everyone knows the game kicks off at 3pm and surely they would have used a bit of sense and realised that there may be a big crowd today and arrived at the ground a little earlier to make sure of being in on time.
Common sense really!!
If i have offended anybody with my comments i am sorry, but it's what i think!!

Judy
Anyone still not able to get in at 3-10 deserved not to get in.
It does not take a brain surgeon to understand that today was going to be busy. Likely they were still supping their pre match pints at 2-55 and thinking that it was time to go to the game!
We are with you girl!

apologise? Sorry but i still don't agree with the proceedure that was in place to day. We've had a good day today, no need to spoil it with 'I told you so's' STFC's ticketing policies have been spot in the the majority this season and i applaud the club for that However even for a few people to be turned away (even if they arrived after 3) could have been avoided by making it an all ticket match. Also what's the point of being a season ticket holder when I had to be in the ground before two o'clock?

Agree with loyalshrew. The ground may not have been full but the terraces were declared full more than 30 mins before kick-off. I know of one season ticket holding friend who was outside queueing to come in when that was announced and had to watch the game from the seats put aside in the away end. He is not amused by that and I don't blame him. It should have been all-ticket.
But at least we won, third division her we come (fingers crossed) !!!!!

I still can't believe this wasn't all ticket. If it hadn't been on Sky, people would definately have been locked out. As Loyalshrew says, season ticket holders should not be left wondering whether they will get in or not. I was a bit surprised by this thread, so perhaps Judy Shone did not start it. If so someone has wound us up good and proper
