I love Shropshire as a whole and live in nice part of it- Ironbridge- but I think Shrewsbury is great- one of the sad parts about the NM will be not having to come into the town for the footy

Shrewsbury is a nice place to come back to every now and again to play golf or see the football.
I wouldn't consider living in Shrewsbury again though (well not until i was older and prefered somewhere without much noise) as Shrewsbury is far too quiet for me.

would consider moving to Australia. I am eligable due to family there.
Nothing ever happens here and everyone knows everyone else which I detest. Job opportunities are p**s poor.
Lived in Perth Australia for 5 months on my travels and love the place. had a girlfriend, a flat, a job and a football team which are the best in australia.
why did I ever come back?

I would never be tempted to move abroad, no matter how nice it looks. I couldn't live without STFC.

Shropshire and Shrewsbury are simply the best places to live as far as I am concerned. I have been here longer than anywhere else in my life. However, when you are young it must seem very quiet and boring - I firmly believe that everyone should leave, get some experience of life and then come back.
I couldn't even consider living abroad I'm afraid. I'm sorry Pete, I wouldn't want to live there but I wouldn't mind visiting.

Sorry, but not as nice as Sydney Pete!
There is every chance at some point that we will emigrate to Australia in the future because that is where Linda is from and all her family still live there.
We will in all probability live in Bowral (where Don Bradman was born and first played his cricket). It is in the Southern Highlands about an hour and a half from Sydney. It is a small town (smaller than Shrewsbury) but very nice.
I do love it in Australia, but must confess I never want to leave Shrewsbury. If it happens it will be the biggest gutwrencher of my life. I will miss STFC like crazy, plus all my friends.
It is one thing to live in London etc, and travel back for Town games. But this is something completely different.

Myself, Texmex and a few others have made the decision to become expats. I'm sure that all of us maintain a link to our roots, whether by supporting Shrewsbury, making sure kids are "at home" in Shropshire/England and just generally being proud of where we are from. Shrewsbury is a wonderful place to live, and I would have no hesitation about moving back to Shropshire.

I was born and raised in Shrewsbury, I lived there for 37 years, although in that time I worked at Birmingham for 6 years, and Wrexham for 4.
Shrewsbury is a place I love visiting. It is a lovely town, but I wouldn't live there again.

I still can't do these quote thingys properly but Petetheloon said - "Shrewsbury is as dull as dishwater. I hate living here it is so f**king boring, and as soon as I can I will get out of here for good" I lived in Market Drayton. I remember, when I was in my teens, writing a "hate poem" about it- about how you couldn't move without people telling your parents..etc... and of course, "boring" figured quite a lot too. I mean- Shrewsbury was exciting by comparison! Well- I went to Liverpool, had a wild and wonderful time- yet it didn't feel right, somehow. O.K. in the nights- when it was all excitement- but in the cold light of day... I think I had to be half hung-over all the time to cope with it!!!) I've seen a lot of country girls make a lot of silly mistakes in the big city- not "streetwise"- can't cope! There was a girl from Bethesda, in North Wales....... If I can't see green fields- I just feel awful- oppressed, and claustrophic. The worst place I ever lived in was Huyton. It made me feel so bad, I feel ill at ease even driving through it!! I had to conclude that I'm an (old) Shropshire girl and I never felt quite right in big towns and horrible suburban sprawl. I can just about cope with Billinge because there are still some green fields left- and there's a place where I can go- about half a mile from here- and no town on the horizon- and that's like a tiny piece of Shropshire, dropped into the outskirts of Wigan! Shrewsbury- I love it! I used to go with my Mother to Brum, and to The Potteries - and was glad to get home- but I always loved Shrewsbury. It's the best of both worlds. It's a "green" town- and very pretty. I can understand that some people may never want to return. But as for me, give me half a chance- and if Mr Wiggy would agree to move- I'd pack up and go back "home" tomorrow!!!! I'd even go back to Market Drayton! But then, I'm older.

Shrewsbury is a bit too big for me, and Broseley's getting the same way, 5000 people is quite big enough for anywhere.
Shropshire is an excellent place to live. A move away would involve a serious reduction in the quality of life.
