Some great ideas so far... 1) supporters benefit game 2) a huge posse of salop fans to go their next game when we're not playing we've been the most vociferous critics of Shaw's regime, we warned them this would happen, we debated it again and again and again and they wouldn't listen. In some cases when things like this hit home and you were right all along there is the temptation to gloat. I just feel terrible for them. Rivalry is one thing, missing out on the Trophy is banter, but their whole existence? I think the way we react to this situation will show who we really are as people and as football fans. This is a time to show the rivalry between the clubs and fans is just that, good old fashioned rivalry This is the time when we show our true colours and also, yeah, this does bring home how whatever league we have sunk to at least we still have a club. Maybe we do need to lay off our board for a while. Oldgit certainly is talking sense. Shrews & Bucks

Good ideas and I agree that we should show our support.
I for one would be up for both the ideas you have suggested.
This is the worst case scenario for any club and I hope they can find a way out of this hole...

I would suggest a mini tournament with teams from all conference clubs taking part in a knockout competition with the prize being a final against STFC first team.
This would draw fans from all over the country and would generate a substantial amount of publicity.
If you want to raise some money then do it properly, this would be very easy to organise with the support of the football club.

I would see no problem. If we are allowed, I for one would wear my Town shirt on the Hutch if it can help out in any small way.

See what the Telford guys thinks. At the moment they are going to be running round like blue arsed flies.
Lets give them support, but I'm really up for the Accrington game. Its my birthday!!!
This is the statement I have given the press with regarsd the goings on..
Ade Plimmer, organiser of the Shrewsbury Town Supporters Umbrella Group commented:
"As football fans I think we can all sympathise with the supporters of Telford United.
I think the current predicament highlights once again that those involved in football clubs have a huge responsibility in the way clubs are run. Unfortunately football fans are once again left to pick up the pieces of when things do go wrong.
It is why the government have come up with initiatives such as 'Supporters Direct' so that real fans have a say in the way football clubs are run and don't live beyond there means and get into difficulties.
At Shrewsbury people have criticised the board for the way they have run the club, but in making the hard choices they've made, they've been able to keep Shrewsbury Town solvent and viable.
Although we don't have a Supporters Trust at Shrewsbury, the Umbrella Group has regular contact with the clubs board, and the exchange in initiatives and ideas, shows that fans and directors can work together without the exclusion or disenfranchisement that has happened at some clubs.
We wish Telford fans best wishes is their battle to survive, and I sure most Town fans echo that sentiment, and will be looking at ways if they can of helping them"

Sad News.
Good ideas above.
I'll be up for the Telford v Accrington game on the 08 April, (that's two days after we play Telford on the Tuesday) and I'm prepared to go in the home end, with my town shirt on and give them some moral support.
It could cause the Police some problems, but I think they will be unfounded. If they warn us off then I'll send them a tenner anyway.

I imagine that if you received any trouble in the home end while wearing colours, the true Telford fans will soon stick up for you and sort them out.
Thanks for the support

What about the Charity match being played at Bucks Head and all the money going to Telford United.
The Dream Team lads would be up for it i'm sure of that. Could play Telford first team/ Telford old boys )sorry wouldn't know that many though) / a celeb team/ Wolves Veterans who ever but that could raise some cash £20,000 plus. Not a great deal in the whole scheme of things but it all helps.

No offence Lee but you need a crowd puller and a big one at that. I think it's very decent of Shakey to make such a gesture, I'm sure there would be many a celeb/old footballer who would not want TUFC or any football club for that matter to close it's doors, it's the best fundraising idea I've seen all day. Maybe you should raise it at your meeting tonight? Don't look a gift horse... BTW Shakey I'm not calling you a horse

text message back from Lee Carter
"will do mate thank u so much i will be in touch"
Hopefully they can talk about it tonight.
There is the local derby when we need to take a big crowd. But also I think if a posse of us went to the Accrington game it would be a reall special gesture
We can plug it in the press, Star / Chroncile / Radio Shrops would cover it I am sure
We would need police OK to come in Blue and Amber but given the circumstances I think it would be a really great idea
I am also trying to think of some sort of banner / presentation we could do before the game

"We would need police OK to come in Blue and Amber but given the circumstances I think it would be a really great idea" If we see Alan (Laptop) Roberts at Hereford on Saturday, it might be worth asking his thought on the idea

I reckon if the Shrews fans came along weearing their shirts they would be welcomed even more. One of the people on Bucks Chat mentioned that if all the fans from other clubs who were coming weared their club colours it would add to the occasion. I have to say that I couldn't agree more.

Agreed 100%. This is no time for moaning; it puts things in perspective, doesn't it?
We talking about Football in Shropshire being so much the poorer without Telford United.
This Saturday, I'll be in Shropshire- and the Hereford game would be difficult with 2, possibly 3 youngsters with me. (Got to get to get to Shrewsbury even to get the train- and , after an expensive family outing to the theatre tomorrow night- I don't think I'd be able to afford it, either!)
Telford is within easy reach by 'bus- I could take the kids there, instead!
I've got 2 weeks holiday coming up soon. Anything that's going on, I'd be glad to help.

BUT if we DO go- The kids and I will definitely be wearing our Shrewsbury gear- make no mistake about it!!
No hope of "converting" us, however sympathetic we are!!
