I agree with what has just been said (if anybody is listening) the crowd are too quick to get on players backs but are we a crowd who dont appreciate, or have little knowledge of football?? contraversial?

As may be gathered from previous threads, I've not been happy with our fans' impatience in recent weeks.
But I'd never insult them by saying they have little knowledge of football.

prehaps it was because all could see sammy should have started, and was p**sed off due to us leaving the only player other than tolley junior who can play out wide, and we got no change from the centre of the park

I too would question the lack of knowledge, always found my fellow supporters to be on the cutting edge of anything footie, but in all my years of following town i must admit to being frustrated at how quick we get frustrated. Some might say "we are what we eat" and fed a diet of rubbish and we respond accordingly. To sum things up i always remember a game in the second division we were on a run of 13 unbeaten, and went in at half time 1-0 down and the crowd booed!! I thank you!!!

Amy, last season the vast majority of Shrewsbury Town supporters believed we had the management and a team capable of keeping us up and in the League...if thats not proof enough I have no idea what is...most haven't got a clue...

"Town fans are so on edge, they put the players on edge".
Fully agree, Andy.

Mind you, you say that...well into the first half and not one decent chance of note...sounds like a s**te match...and you wonder why certain supporters show their disapointment? Does what your listening to sound like a decent game of football? Must be worse fror the poor sods who are there watching it...

The crowd are on edge 'cos the team aren't playing well. The team aren't playing well 'cos the crowd has put them on edge. The crowd has put them on edge 'cos the crowd are on edge. The crowd are on edge 'cos the team aren't playing well. The team aren't playing well 'cos the crowd has put them on edge...

It takes 2 teams to make a decent game of football.

Also on a night like tonight surely it makes sense to clap, and generate heat than boo and loose precious heat.

ALL BOW TO THE ALMIGHTY STUTTGARTERSHREW FOR SUSSING RATCLIFFE OUT WHILE SOME OF US GOT IT WRONG AND SUPPORTED HIM. Please accept my humble apologies for posting my un-knowledgable thoughts on tonight's game - which obviously I am not qualified enough to comment upon.

I'd have given Ratcliffe the sack long before the end of last season but I don't go harping on about it.

All hail Stuttgarter!!!
Lads, the question was whether the majority of Town fans have a decent knowledge of football...don't spit the dummy, calm down. It's a fair point to a discussion that was raised on the board. Clear as day to me that most haven't got a clue if they thought the standard of football being produced at the end of last season was good enough to stay in the League then they either need their vision sorted or know f**k all about football...I'd put me money on the latter...
If a discussion arises on the board that, I believe, warrants a comment regarding last season then I'll make it...and I don't give two sh!ts about you lads gibbering on about me being right and you wrong. If it's within the context of a discussion then I'll post it...
Can you not take the post in the context it was meant?

Chip on my shoulder? Get real Stutty.
I just don't appreciate being told that I know nothing about football.
Some of us made a big mistake last year, fair enough, but your suggestion is way out.

Yeah, maybe a bit harsh with the chip on the shoulder malarkey, didn't want to get into a row and so deleted it from my first post...
But I do stand by my original post, mind...

Having had time to calm down I believe my reaction was OTT last night and this morning. I personally don't like reading at any time I'm poor at something, especially if it's about the beautiful game.
However I still think your sweeping statement is incorrect. Yes, many fans made a big, big mistake last season. Unfortunatley the only people to suffer, ultimatley, are the fans. Yet I don't think this is a mandate to say they know sweet fa about football.

Personally I believe I know stacks about the game and my missus knows even more than me (or she thinks she does). To compare this season with last is not right, two different managers, nearly two different squads and the a big factor is Conference refs. We were warned about them, but seeing is believing. In the Non League International Luke was allowed to use his physical strengths in the Conf he is not.

JP our kid, no comparison was meant (not intentionally anyhows) with last season with regards to the club, management or players...but about Town supporters and their appreciation and knowledge of the game...
