Unlucky mate - thats gotta be one of the most frustrating things you can fail as a young man - i know it was for me ----- All 5 times that i failed - for 1) Dangerous driving (requiring a full emmidate stop of the test on the road past 6th form) cos i almost hit a bus then stalled it in the center of the road 2) Lane disapline and Signals 3) Excessive speed (did a good test till i got to coming back along past scat (again) and did 40 the whole way along the 30 stretch) ;D 4) Pararell Parking - still crap at it 5) Hesitancy at a junction - no wonder after all the other mistakes i had been makeing On the 6th one i passed - and bloody hell was that a good day And i have never once crashed the car since (although got done speeding at 91 on the M54 a few years back) Keep your head up - you will pass next time im sure mate

2 in 6 days Passed with loads more minor faults the second time round. They've changed the rules these days to stop people like me re-trying so quickly though....

Glyn - still not a patch on Colin Bloomfield though. Was it 100 lessons he had before his first test? And then he had a crash the day before.

i had about 12 lessons then decided the £32 a week could be better spent on Stella seriously tho, i stopped because I was kidding myself that I could afford to buy & run a car anyway, Gay Meadow is only 10 minutes walk away, what do I need a car for?

Schizo, passing your test in telford is not easy- I had 6 months of driving round the godforsaken place and got completley fecked off with it.
I had 6 lessons in Shrewsbury and then took the test, passed 1st time but I wouldn't have if I'd had taken the test in Telford. Your day will come!

It used to be said (don't know if it still is) that on average the number of lessons taken were relevant to your age.
I was 23 when I passed my test at the first time of asking, having taken 23 lessons (including the pre test).
Good luck for next time Dale.

Passed test at second attempt at 09:30 on Saturday 21st April 1990 in Wellington. In the afternoon, I opened the batting at Lilleshall, going on to score 113 not out, I was dropped 7 times and whilst on 102 I was bowled and the bails stayed on! I came on to bowl a took a wicket with my first ball. In the changing room after the game, a senior player in the side said "Fair Play you'll get in the house tonight and she'll throw all her clothes off". She did as well!!! ;D If I had chance to re-live one day in my life again, that would probably be it!!

Yes, but it was at her house. She also was living with her parents at the time!!
Shame we split up in 1994 really!

Our 0-0 draw??? Yours more like. Playing at home, packed crowd, then playing with 10 men behind the ball, showed no invention, no attacking options, Just defies belief really!

Just had a thought don't most teams play with 9-11 players behind the ball at most times?
Every goal is always scored with 11 of the attacking team playing behind the ball.
It is when you don't have a lot of players behind the ball that the problems start.
I'm off for a lie down now.

I'm in the process of booking my lessons for when I turn 17 on May 5th. I've considered taking it in Shrewsbury but travelling there every time I had a lesson could be tedious. I hate trains.
However I do hope to be buying (With my hard earnt cash) a Rover 100 as a practice car this weekend.

Telford's full of roundabouts, weird little corners that lead onto housing estates, and Novas

You have to be a worthy driver to pass your test independent of wether you take it in Shrewsbury, Telford or anywhere else in the country. Well apart from london (and then you'd learn to drive properly)

agree, Phil.
I doubt it makes little difference whether the test is taken in Telford/Shrewsbury or Whitchurch. What would be of more importance is whether you take your test in rush hour.
as for housing estates and novas, well the whole idea of taking you those places on a test is so that you can show the examiner that you are capable of completeing the manouvers safely.

Persevere. roundabouts or no roundabouts - I took two attempts to pass the driving test admittedly a long time ago - I now tell everyone that only the best drivers pass second time!!!!!!!!!!!
