Now that Duane Darby is back in vogue who does the mantle pass to this week?

MARTIN O'CONNER, he might have scored yesterday, so why does'nt he attempt to shoot like that every week as he always finds himself in that position, or on tuesday night will he continue to spread the ball across the opponents box again.

it seems that people appear to be turning on Rodgers. Have to say altho he set up a goal and scored a cracker I though O'Connor was far from convincing yesterday, always wants one touch to many, and was missing in the first half when he was required to sort out the team.

He'd still be one of the first two or three names on the team sheet for me, very influential again yesterday

i think you have to play o'connor on tuesday because in the second half he played some fantastic passes and he always seems to be in space.but, in the first half his reactions were so slow. he'd get the ball, have a look, have a think, have amother look, have a cup of tea, and then play the pass when the player finally has a marker on him. his tackles are always so late and he has the never to complain every time.i'd still pick him though

so is he like Atkins then?
Very good and influential when the teams playing well. Struggles to get into the game or stamp his authority when the team are playing crap?

O'Connor was excellent second half.
It didn't help first half that he was playing alongside someone who clearly wasn't fully match fit.

He continued talking to Howie down the tunnel at H/T, tho I couldn't tell if he was trying to encourage him or give him a bollocking

Let's hope their is no need for a whipping boy.
Howie is better than anything I've seen at this level and yesterday was his 6th goal conceded at home in the conference in around 12 games?

I nominate Howie as well, bring back Bavo its an idea even if its only to remind howie that he has to earn his place. he kept us in the game at alty though so perhaps we should stick with him this saturday as hes done okay in the trophy matches

To be fair, Howie is probably as good as we'll get at the club whilst we're in this division
He's generally okay, but I feel like i'm holding my breath waiting for catastrophe every time he has to deal with a through ball or come off his line and deal with anything

Howie just doesn't fill me with confidence (altho saying that neither does Bavo) his communication with Tinno is awful and there are still times when he looks very shaky from crosses or through balls.
I was going to suggest throwing Joe Hart in but it may be too big a risk at this crucial stage? Maybe worth easing him in during the Telford FAT game next week?

PPP, chill out. I can blame Howie for 2 or 3 goals this season. Nothing more. And he's won us several points and kept us in the FA Trophy. An excellent keeper.

Don't take too much notice of this because apparently I talk utter s**t. Mind you, coming from some who post on this board, I'll take as a compliment!!
1. Lukey. His disciplinary record has cost us for the last 2 seasons. I'm not sure of the exact figures but don't let that put you off, 'cos I talk crap. 2 seasons ago when we were fighting for the play-offs , he was suspended for too many games when his goals could have made the difference. Last season, the same situation occurred when we were fighting relegation. Enough said. We should have sold him to Crewe when we had the chance, irregardless of the "deal" struck over his fine.
2.Tolley. I have never particularly rated him. As the experts will tell you, he's got a "great engine." He's scored the odd few goals, but his general overall play leaves a lot to be desired. IMHO Karl was a much more accomplished player and given the chance, he would have proved it.
3.O'connor. Will never be the player that this side needs. Spends too much time playing balls sideways and backwards(thats when he can find anyone in a blue shirt). Atkins was the same sort of player. Steady but not instrumental in changing the course of the game.
All in all ,sell Tolley and Rodgers. next year, if things don't go the way we expect,we will need the tranfer fees to ensure we stay full-time.
As previously stated, don't take my word for it,but I do listen to those around me in the Wakeman and we can't ALL be wrong!

Ah the old 'Rodgers cost us the play offs' line eh Duncow?
I believe he missed the following home games during his 5 game suspension in 2002:
Leyton Orient, Mansfield and Swansea.
We won all three comfortably.
Luke Rodgers has scored 55 goals in 105 league starts for Shrewsbury Town. 'Nuff said.
Tolley - I'm glad to hear you don't rate him. It puts your other comments into perspective. Also, I take it that the fact that Cardiff City are interested doesn't change your view? Fine.
O'Connor. Did he change the course of the game yesterday in your view?

From what I've seen of Atkins and O Connor I would rather have O Connor in my team, because whenever I saw Atkins play a few seasons ago he usually got the ball; and lost it, very rarly did he do anything useful with it.
Tolley doesnt tackle much i admit that, why I don't know, but going forward he is good imho
When Rodgers is on form, he can beat any defender, anywhere, as said before by other people, every strikers has bad patches and I think Luke will score soon. He hasnt become a bad striker over night.
