Albie Fox aledgedly became a councilor so that he could influance from the inside the conservative parties standpoint on gun ownership after the Dunblane massacre, he was once the chairman of The Sportsman's Association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and is currently its press spokesperson.
It was reported by MP Mr George Foulkes that The Sportsman's Association of Great Britain distributed leaflets at the Eglinton hunt in Ayrshire, which described the parents of the children who died at the hands of Thomas Hamilton in the Dunblane massacre as....
"a noisy hysterical group of social terrorists"?
Although this was later denied by Albie Fox, his affiliation with an organisation that promotes the use of hand guns and death of innocent animals for sport is disturbing.

The "Fastnet yachting disaster of 1979"
Im gussing the ship was sinking and the saved it!!!! what a let down Foxy
Also this really got me - "has been participating in interviews up and down the country, on TV and Radio, in an attempt to counter the anti-gun bias presented by the media in the wake of the recent shootings in the UK and America."
There no hope for this man - no morals whats so ever

There had to be a better way to get our message across to those in power but what was it?
Jim Crawford contacted me back in 2000 - he had read something that I had written and thought that I might be interested in joining him in starting a new political party. I was!!
Why a new party? Why not join an existing one and 'influence' it from within - as Albie Fox is trying to do with the Conservative Party. We wanted a new party because none of the existing parties seemed to be remotely interested in our concerns - liberty, rural issues generally.

good spot kickin
read your post again and check everything for libel (just in case)
it is right to highlight his position in the organisation but i don't think you can assume his motivation from it - unless has he stated this somewhere? I very much doubt it.
remember the shooting / hunting thing has hundreds of followers / supporters in this area
that quote is very poor, but do we know if he was with involved in the writing of it?
just be carefullad, all this is good stuff, and even in that one section there is enough for a letter to the press, use the quote about dunblane, say who it is from, say what albie fox does, ask him what he thinks of that?
but equally be very careful on issues like this because it is a thin line between highlighting concerns and being libellous
"Shrewsbury Town, the team who have stood tall amongst giants in League One this season, are making their presence felt again."
It gets worse, an excerpt from Charlton Hestons speach at oxford Universitytaken from the guns and ammo site...
"The mere presence of guns doesn't and can't cause crime. One of your countrymen, Albie Fox from Anglesey, is a former competitive pistol shooter who's considering running for Parliament. He talked last week about pistol tournaments where he's seen 2,000 shooters who had about six pistols each. That's 12,000 pistols on the premises. How many police did they need for security? Two. Go to any football game in Great Britain and you'll find hundreds of policemen trying to hold down the fort.

"hold down the fort" - what the hell is this guy on - Guns kill - I guess its easy to hide from guns and gun crime in shropshire he wants to take a look at there effect on inner citys!!
What about this Gem form Heston -
"I urge you to shake off the ancient yoke of vassals and serfs and try a little American rebellion on for size. Write the essay or give the lecture or permit the discussion that provokes an honest assessment of what human freedom should mean in 21st Century England."
Albie Fox then went on to talk about the SAGB, the new association. He explained the importance of paying the nominal fee to join, and that IF we can get a million members, it will have more weight than Snowdrop, as they obtained their 706,000 signatures to ban hand guns by dubious means.
He told us that he wanted to start the SAGB as a Political Party, and still believes in doing that, but this was vetoed by those at the meeting held at Bisley Camp last Saturday.
Bingo....here it is in black and white "noisy group of hysterical terrorists"
A letter from Albie Fox - Chairman SAGB :-
Sportsman’s Association of Great Britain P.O. Box 1689, Bradford, BD8 9YQ
SPORTSMAN’S ASSOCIATION OF GREAT BRITAIN
On Saturday 19th October 1996 a meeting of approximately 500 unhappy shooting sportsmen formed the above Association. It was in response to the depth of feeling about the unfair proposed government legislation over firearms. Everyone in the shooting community was and still is appalled by the act of the Dunblane murderer, but shooters are being punished for the crime. In particular, no consideration has been given to the fact that we are a sport, which as all sportsmen will realise, is an integral part of a person’s life. Their families are frequently involved not only in participation but in support and all the social aspects. The proposed new handgun legislation will not abolish handguns but will abolish control of handguns.
Our feelings for the families of the Dunblane tragedy was extended by our respectful silence even though we were being vilified by the likes of David Mellor and the tabloid press. The actions and words of the Labour and Conservative Parties have forced us to react.
As the elected Chairman I ask your organisation to give us your support. We have no intentions of usurping your efforts and the work you do on our behalf. As I summarised at the end of the meeting I believe the shooting organisations have tried their best but the politicians do not believe you have the grass roots support. Our aim is to bring to the attention of the House of Commons the depth of feeling of the grass roots and our objection to the proposed legislation which is going to be passed without proper parliamentary procedure. The grass roots shooter wants to feel they are doing something themselves. This may be the last throw of the dice for them but they will feel that they have done something positive for themselves at the end.
For this to work and save the sport of shooting we must act in great numbers now. We need to have 100,000 people signed up by the 26th. Time is of the essence. Only through a massive early response can we go forward and argue with the politicians. By November the 1st we must have at least ONE MILLION members. Snowdrop recruited 750,000 in four months. If we can recruit one million in two weeks and if those people have paid £5 then our campaign will have far more weight than the Snowdrop petition.
On behalf of the newly formed Council I ask you to support our efforts by mailing my covering letter, constitution and membership forms to your membership.
Yours in Sport
Albie Fox Chairman SAGB
THEY THOUGHT THERE WAS A GUN LOBBY
THERE IS NOW
Keeping a low profile, turning the other cheek has failed. On the line is not only fullbore pistol and revolver ownership but ALL shooting sports, and beyond them, many other sporting and leisure pursuits. Indeed, anything no longer deemed politically correct by a noisy hysterical group of social terrorists currently leading all the political parties by their noses. We have NO friends or allies in Parliament. If your shotgun, fieldsport, stalking, fishing or hunting leaders tell you that your sport is safe, they are either naïve or incredibly stupid. Just look at the written agendas and manifestos of all the parties scrabbling for votes at the next election. You have, or will all become nothing more than a political expedient.
THE SPORTSMAN’S ASSOCIATION OF GREAT BRITAIN was formed on the night of Sat 19th of October in a packed pavilion at Bisley. Within three hours over 400 people joined. The object is simple… to finally create the unanimous sporting lobby of which we have heard so much in the past seven months. Whilst the anti campaign relied largely upon children signing something they may not have understood, we are comprised of paid members and have far greater credibility in the eyes of prospective members of parliament. For a paltry £5 you can join and add your voice to the swelling body of extremely angry people. We do not ask you to leave your other associations, just to join us as well. More importantly, you must RECRUIT. YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS IN WHICH TO HELP US ACHIEVE CRITICAL MASS. If it becomes necessary, our constitution allows us TO FORM A POLITICAL PARTY, not with the hope of winning seats, but as a single issue spoiling manoeuvre.

kickin, ever thought of joining SUFAN, your talents r wasted on the web. grade A research son, grade A. Cooke Report eat ur knob off!
BTW what type of articles u looking for on your web site?, I could give a planning aspect on it all. Actually did my Uni dissertation on the relaocatiob of STFC in the early 90's... Preston Boats site and all that. Was having a good "debate" the other day with my dad (who is a surveyor) about the New Vs Gay Meadow fiasco, sorry story.
If he appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks identity parade and you only had that photo to go on you'd struggle to identify him. He's had a few winters since then.
Cnut nocks on my door every other year asking me to vote for him (obviously forgetting I live there or he would have passed by).
His grasp of the real world is bewildering. When Mrs Ghost tackled him on her biggest gripe, dogs fouling the pavements and footpaths on Reabrook, his advice was to take photographs of the dogs and take them to the police ?!?!??

This is all great reading.
Has all the makings of a sensation news story. all we need to do is push the shropshire 'sit on the fence' star to publish some of these facts.
as suggested before by me, a letter to 'rotten boroughs' section of private eye would be a good move. would do it myself but Kicken and TBH always seem to do the fact filled angry post better than anyone else on here
Glyness I have your dissertation on disk at my house in Cardiff remember, when I copied (sorry referrenced) it for one of my courseworks. If you need it I can try and e-mail you all of the parts to send to other people. What a fine piece of work it is too........got me an A anyway! ;D
Look I may only be awake for five hours a day but the work I do in that short time makes the world a better place. Also I never really knew much about this Albie Fox character.........what a major t**t!! This guy should be electronically tagged. And as for Charlton Heston..............just watch Bowling For Columbine!
One thing that has always puzzled me about Albi Fox is the fact that for all his posturing about the new Meadow and other local issues, he doesn't really care about the area he lives in. this can be substantiated by the fact that he has stood as a PPC and been selected for the Tories in Anglsey. Hr fought a bitter campaign that was derailed when it was revealed that he had been Court Marshalled out of HM Services. The dispute was not about his Court Marshall, that was admitted, it was more about the reasons for it. If the guy is so desperate to get away, why bother voting for him in the first place. It's common knowledge that he wants bigger things, yet there are those in Shrewsbury that vote for him. My advice is not to waste your vote....vote for him in June, and there will be a by elction within two years when he stands again in Yns Mon or Brecon and Radnor.
He is a resident of Bayston Hill and briefly represented that ward on the Borough Council. However, this is a relatively safe Labour area so he decamped to Sutton. Sutton was previously a safe Tory area but boundary changes added part of Reabrook and this made it more marginal.
The Tory campaign in Sutton promised to stop the New Meadow - exploiting the scare stories circulated by the Sutton Residents Association, whose main officers all happened to be Tory candidates in the Borough elections.
Come with me, come with me, we'll travel to infinity - or possibly The Championship.
