The news about him being available was in the Chronicle.
Couldn't reply to the other thread.

Yep, forgot to add that His name is being circulated along with Drysdale and Glenn Tolley. Wish him the best of luck in finding another club, he always gave 110% for the team but unfortunately just wasn't to be.

It is not a laughing matter.
How much did Rioch give up to play full time for us? he was doing coaching at man City centre of excellence and other working.
He has signed a 2year contract, so expect for him to take his time bout finding a new club and cencentrate on "winning" a place back in the team.
When someone as hardworking as greggor and nice as him has a career threatend its never a lauging matter.
Yes he isnt as good as we had hoped he might be, he never was, but we should still show respect. He probably gave up a lot to come back into fulltime football.

I'm with you on this Rob.
Just because the move never worked out for him and he is being pushed out of town doesn't mean it is funny.
Some people should grow up and realise he has a family to support and he had given up a lot to join us.
I wish Greg luck in the future and hope things work out for him.

Oh come on give me a break - he was crap ALL season - why the hell should i care for a player that has not really given anything to the club? If it was a player of some notable service fair play i would agree, but he might be a nice man but hard things happen to people in life. What ever bad things have happened to make is carrer be threatend - thats his own falut - he had chances ,he got a break from the team and came back worse than before And as for what he gave up -he made a wrong choice in life we all do - but again thats his fault As for respect - i have been all over the country to watch town duing the gregor era and he has never once given me any reason to have my respect Poor player - good riddance

I would like to thank Greg for all the effort he's put into playing for STFC, he evidently loved playing for the club and always gave 100% - I wish him all the best in the future.
However the fact of the matter is that he's simply not good enough for us and the decision to put him on the transfer list is certainly the correct one.
For the benefit of the club as a whole it will be good to see Gregor move to another club freeing up funds so we can bring in a good replacement left-back - preferably Graham Potter.

very diplomatic ant!!! I still question the whole effort against ability thing - sorry but i could try 100% (well i always do) but would anyone be sorry to see me leave. Hopefully some one in the top 10 needs a left back cos if they get gregor they could say good by to any chances of promotion Any way Raddy Rioch will sort out gregor when he struggles to find a new club

Totally agree Ant.
It just doesnt seem correct slating and laughing at a player who through no fault of their own hasnt performed for the club. It isnt through lack of trying!

Im not shocked just wanted official confirmation, hence - what, where, when?
Think its a bit sad for the lad to be honest as he always gives 110%, if he could sort out his passing and positioning then he would be a solid defender.

Ok i admit, it was my fault. I've been sticking needles into a miniature doll of Gregor Rioch every time he attempts to pass and flicking its ears at other times thus losing concentration and being out of possition. I'm really sorry, i'll stop now. Give him another chance

I wondered why you always had your hands in your pockets when Greg played Norge. I just thought you were excited to see him

Good luck Gregor and sorry it didnt work out.

If I were him, I'd do a Bavo and go nowhere until something that suited me came in.
If Sedge gets injured/suspended, then Rioch has a damn good chance of getting a go at left back and if he plays well, he stays in the team.
No doubt Bavo thinks the same.
They are both contracted here until May 2005. It'll cost to pay them off.

Interesting to read your comments about the work ethic thing gpricey- do I take it that you prefer a player that looks like he is not working hard but is effective- Mr. Cramb for instance

Paul - theres balance between a hard working player and an effective player and both Cramb and Gregor ar examples of players at our club who fail to fin that balance - so you could say that the type og player that i like is somewhere in between the hard work of gregor and the "effectivness" of Cramb - Like Jaime Tolly or Lukey
And Gregor is not even 2nd choice now anyway so why hang around - he behind Stevens in the pecking order!
And i still dont understand the he never hid from anyting argument - does that mean you want him back in the team - no none of want that (unless your Crazy)so why would be sorry to lose a player that did NOTHING for this club apart from eat some of our wage bill and keep F*****ing up.
He is very near the top (in this stint) of the all time worse players we have signed (in my era)

Agree with everything you've said Glyn.
Sentiment is all well and good but save it for people who deserve it! A nice guy he may have been but he was god awful! Personalities rarely have anything to do with how good a player is in football......just look at Roy Keane.
He may have given 100% but like pricey said, if I played so would I but I don't think any of you would be posting on here saying I should be given a run in the first team!
