I was given a complementary ticket last year, which (being a ticket holder) i gave to the first diserving person I saw.
This was a very old chap who, once I explained it was free, I asked "So how long have you been coming here then" - to which he said - "Oh since 1933"
I asked "Whart was Arthur Rowley like?!"
He looked at me and said
"We could do with a few like him!"
too right!!
I first remember sneaking it at the age of 6 - with older acompliances, 35 years ago (and in the Station End!)
and yourselves?

I've been going regularly since the 92/93 season - only missed a couple of home games since then.
However I remember being taken when I was younger but don't have too clear a memory as to whom we were playing etc.
Wish I'd seen STFC's 'glory years' though, that's for sure

Ant - we didn't know what we've got til it's gone! They were good times, but the support today is much better in my opinion,
I know poeple who went then but are not supporters now, they say "Oh yeh, I used to go" but now have an interest but just 'pretend' to follow Liverpool or someone else"
You may wish to have been in the glory days,
but in my opinion this support today is the most genuine I can remember and 1 fan now is worth 4 of the glory days,
with people like yourself worth 20!

Ant - come on come clean,
to us that don't know - It appears you attend every home and away game, and cover the reserves aswell, and seem to be on here 24/7. Do you sleep?
what is your role?? and what are you studying at Uni ? Media ?

Since the short but relatively entertaining Harry Gregg era. Though living in Glasgow for about 10 years in the eighties meant I rarely got to a game for a while, then came off and on when I moved down south .It was really only the great escape season that made me as dedicated as I am now I suppose because as it seemed the club was about to dissapear it made me realise how much it meant to me .

Started going late 1950s, and was in both the record attendance of 18917, against Walsall, and the lowest ever Football League attendance at the Meadow, which was about 1200. The glory years were fantastic. Averaged over 8000 in 1st season in old Div 2, including two or three gates of 14000+. During one season, we played about 14 game against London clubs, in Division 2, and didn't lose one.

First game I can remember is the Man City cup game (?63/64) season . Went to the game in my mates Dad's Fire Engine (he was a Fireman - he didn't own one !) to beat the traffic !

Started in the 81/82 season. Those early years were some of the best for me as we were playing in the old Div 2 against decent opposition and we actually had a good team!

Cheers Ade, I do get sleep, too much to be honest, I think it's only the student lifestyle that lets me do it. I'm studying maths and management at Uni, it's my final year then I'm off into the big bad World of work, not too much idea what to do yet though

My first game was at home to Hartlepool on October 5th 1974. We lost 1-0. I can remember walking to the ground with my Dad. Watching from the Riverside right at the front, and remember Ken Mulhearn in goal. 29 years of hurt started that day!

I was first taken to the Meadow to see my Dad play in the Shropshire Amateur cup final, late '40's/early'50's. He played for either Shrewbury Amateurs or Hanwood.
My Dad took me to games from the mid '50's, but the first I actually remember was Ken Smith's debut v. Newport on 12/10/57.
For me, the glory years were the Rowley era. We were an exciting, attacking team (Arthur didn't do defence), we established ourselves as Cup fighters and we twice finished 3rd in Div 3, so under today's rules we would have been playing in the second tier 20 years before we did.
In my opinion, Arthur put the club on the map and paved the way for Durban, Turner and Barker. Such a pity that this legacy has been frittered away and we are now what Arthur prevented us from becoming.

27 September 1957 home v Barrow Arthur Rowley scored for us but Barrow scored 2. Went with a mate called Brian Barrow so it was his fault obviously!. Was in the 18,917 with ex-keeper (assuming ex-keeper was Louie) at the age of 11. Were let off Maths homework to go!

Been going nearly 23 years, first game was feb 81 against preston north end, finished 2-2, think Nobby stiles was manager. best early moment i think was against Bolton, where a bolton back pass beat the diving at full stretch Jim Mcdonaugh, think we won, was in the station end corner, so had a brilliant view of it. (i was only a kid though)

I cant remember my first time exactly it was around 72/73 went with dad a few times.....i remember the town - wolves quarter final replay, after that just a game every now and then ,then my life took a turn round and spent 15/16 years in Germany so i kinda lost my way with town just keeping my eye on the scores, my first game back full time was Stafford rangers and not missed more than a handfull since including pr-season games

I've been going since we moved to Shrewsbury in 1963.
I know I was taken to some games earlier than that, but I don't remember them, apart from the reserves playing Spurs, with some of the double winning team.
It all seemed more serious after promotion to Div 2 in 78/79, and I started going to all the away games, rather than just local ones and cup games.
I could never understand why more people were not interested when we playing top sides every season in Div 2. Definitely a case of not knowing what you've got till its gone.

My first game was
Shrewsbury V Liverpool
Bob Wardle Testmonial 1986
a game I mainly went to as I nagged me Dad as Ian Rush was my idol - we lost 2-0 but the atmosphere and being 5 yards from Rushie got me hooked to footy and supporting the Town.

November 5th 1977. Home to Hereford. Won 3-0. Only went because some college friends were going and was trying to escape from a long term girlfriend who would not take go away for good. 19 years old at the time, have not grown up much since really.

I'm different to most of you in that I started to go to away games first. Jumped on the bandwagon in the 74/75 promotion season although didn't go regularly to the Meadow until 93 when I was living only 2 hours from Shrewsbury. Just a glory hunter really.

1979/80 season v Cambridge, we won 1-0 from I *think* a Stevie Biggins goal. Only really asn occasional supporter through the 80's due to working most Saturdays (loved the Friday night home games though) and only became a real regular during the 93/94 campaign.
