"You have to speculate to accumulate and the Town board are doing that."
Then why didn't we speculate to accumulate when we were still in the Football League? Don't forget the careful financial management has coincided with a deterioration of the footballing position over a period of a number of years. If RW wants to take credit for the former than he should also take the blame for the latter too. Maybe, unlike consistently delivering a range of warm drinks at a competive price the business of football as got him beat - he's always given me that impression when ever I've watched and listened to him speak.
"Where is the saving coming from Sean?
There are a few players on higher wages this year than our best paid player last."
Maybe so. Atkins must have been on a lot less than O'Connor is now because he was released by Hull after a short end of season contract, having previously been in the Conference.
But the margin of risk may not be as great as appears at first, given the number of players that were released.
However the point behind what you are saying Welshshrew is very valid - As I understand it you are wondering whether there has been a shift from a long-term custodial mindset to a shorter term or bust approach over two years. Followed by a shutting up of shop as a full-time club in 2005.
If Luke does not go then this is the increasingly likely answer.
There is also the issue of the New Meadow. RW has managed to spin the convoluted thread of transactions into the air for a number of years now, but hasn't this (with some finality perhaps?) now come to an end?
Maybe RW is going to do a mini Ken Bates and fluke it by selling up before the two years is up? Has your mate had any phone calls recently PPP?
