Wot an absolute howler letting Sam go, a class act which has been proved time & time again But perhaps GP has his own views, although with Mr Langmead being one of his signings i hold little hope for the future. Good luck Sammy, you'll always be a Salop "LEGEND",

??
Critising Langmead, and then labelling Aiston a "legend" shows exactly what you know...

So explain to me wot Langmead has done in his short meadow career? Is it the complete lack of pace, or effort that excites you? Sam was a class act, this is why he is a fans favourite, something Kelvin will never ever be.

Of course Sam will be remebered for years to come. For whatever reason he has always been a crowd favourite and he has certainly entertained over the years. At the end of the day the decision is down to the boss, so good luck Sam, wherever you end up.

Sammy as a person nice guy, as someone to go down the wing and take players on goodstuff.
His final ball never rarely gets into the danger area and he's a bit of a liability when it comes to losing the ball and his eyes go into the back of his head and you know the bad tackle is on its way followed by a red or yellow card.
All this said i wish him and all the other guys all the best for th future

Well done GP How many goals did he set up this season alone? How many times did he get himself stupidly booked? Entertainment is one thing, being worth a place in a team which includes setting up chances and scoring goals is another. Time to move forward

Steady on JP.
We all know whats happened to Sammy this season and that will be why GP has decided ot to keep him.
That doesnt mean that we cant remember the good times and wish him luck for the future does it?
There have been some good times watching Sammy and he will be missed.
However, as you say, time to move on, but no need to slam the man when hes down.

Dont get me wrong Parker, I have enjoyed Sam's time here, but when people cant see what is so clearly infront of their faces it starts to do my head in. Im so sick of supporting a team farting its why down the bottom of the league, managers have come and gone and still we are here and some of the faces that have been with us down the bottom need to move on to. If people are happy as things are then they have no ambition for their club to succedd, but Im so glad Gary Peters has

so his crossing sint too hot.
And he has a tendancy to let lose a ripper of a tackle occassionally?
He is direct and quick, a good outlet that takes pressure off the side, takes two men to double up on him creating space elsewhere on the field. Wins a hell of a lot of freekicks etc..
He is a division3 player, hell if he could cross he'd be in the championship no problems.
What is clearly infront of my eyes is that GP better bring someone in who has more of an attacking threat than langmead (as good as he is at holding the ball up sometimes) and Darby might want to do something productive...

JP's player swingometer takes a massive turn from the Darby God status to the Aiston dud status Sam can consider himself a little hard done by. He's improved during GP's spell here and has set up goals in recent games vs Mansfield, Kiddie and Oxford. I'd have signed him for another year. He offers the side something a lot of players in this league are uncapable of. Sorry to see you go Sam.

Time to move forward in that case he was probably as effective as Mr Rodgers this season

How many goals did he set up this season alone? How many times did he get himself stupidly booked? 5 bookings and 1 red card in 38 appearances. Plenty of assists and also does enough for me defensively to relieve the pressure on our defence. I'm not going to knock GP and hopefully he can put together a front 6 capable of scoring frequently. But I along with many others will miss Sam Aiston.

Its time for the 'fans favourites' to go, we've not exactly set the world alight with them in recent years have we? We need a new Shrewsbury Town team and Gary Peters is going to deliver one, I just hope its going to be a better one

If it wasn't for a decisive manager then I think Sam would have been offered another year - exciting player and fans favourite would have seen him through. For me, Sam will go down as one of the greats - effort and entertainment wise at least.
It takes a manager who is prepared to stand or fall by his decisions to wield the axe on Sam plus a host of others, especially Sedge, and I think we are in for exciting times once all the new players are in place.

It always beats me how Sammy is rated as a god and Ryan Lowe was always Much maligned on this board.Sammy and Lowey were at the club for almost the same length of time but it COULD be argued that Lowey contributed much more to the team in way of assists and goals. Personally I'm not sad to see either of them off the GM wage bill because we have struggled at Div 2 level with both in the squad, clearly both are not good enough, often enough.I trust GP's judgement and look forward to better players being signed over the summer and a brighter future for STFC.
Good luck to both Sammy and Lowey in the future(and all other players released from the club)although I THINK Ryan Lowe will hold his own at div 2 level, but I fear Sammy Aiston found his in the conference last year.

lowe and sam aren't on the same level at all. i'm gutted sam's going and it wouldn't surprise to see him go on to a higher level. i always liked his strength on the ball - he didn't go to ground easily which is unusual for a winger these days. good luck lad. step forward a new crowd hero . . .

I think that Peters had made it clear that he is planning for a five year period, not just next season.
I don't think that Peters is saying that Aiston, Howie, Tinson and a couple of the others he let go, couldn't have done a very good job for us next season. What he seems to be trying to do is free up some extra money to bring in new, younger players who may not set the word alight next season, but who should be better prospects in the long run.
This has got to be the way forward for us. When we got promoted in 94 we never really built on that success as we didn't have the youth team players coming through. Hopefully under Peter's and Vaughan that shouldn't be the case in the future.

Good luck Sam, i've enjoyed watching you, but I can see why you need to go, and beleive it is a good decision. And who says GP won't replace the 'fans favorite' with an even better player? and stop picking on Langmead he's a 19 year old kid for god sake and GP has said all along he has a lot to learn and I honestly think he will get better and become a cracking player
