It has been obvious for more than 2 weeks that this would be a big game for the visitors. Even if they were already promoted they would have come to party. It was also obvious that as soon as Luke indicated this would be his last game there would be many supporters who wanted to come and show their gratitude for his efforts, not to mention the regular town fans.
Surely it would have been far easier to have made the game all ticket for everyone? This could have been decided weeks ago.
It makes us look like a bunch of country bumpkin amateurs by saying 48 hours before kickoff to bring a utility bill !! A ticket would have been far better and if it had been decided in time it would not have had a negative impact on the attendance.
We are looking to develop and move forward as a club. New stadium, squad rebuilding etc, yet we are incapable of handling a League 2 match. If we ever get promoted or have a successful season, the nationwide growth in football attendances is going to mean that more and more matches will have to become all ticket.
It is about time that the club started to learn from the mistakes that have occured in the not to distant past. Admittedly they have been infrequent but it is usually the regular supporterrs who are inconvenienced. Luckily I have a Super Blues card, otherwise it would be pointless me travelling over with the risk of not getting in.
Anyway, lets hope all goes well and everyone who wants to can get in. Enjoy the match and look ahead to next season.

Unfortunately outside the f/ball club everyone can understand the basics and understand simple logic however internally the money people/Board/Excutives etc are still living in the past and so behind its untrue.
PS. Don't even bother putting up any kind of defence Whitters, nothing personal.

Sorry if it seems that I'm sideing with the club on this, but I just think some of the comments about this are a little over the top. It's one game. If this was happening every home game I'd be the first to have a pop. Yes its an inconvenience but come on everyone for god sake. You will get in, just help the club out. People on here say that want to help the club, well here's your chance! I'm doubtful that this should have been an all ticket game for Town fans but what is being "put in place" is poor. But it isn't poor beyond belief, the club has form in this area and its not good. Lets use our commonsense Ade Plimmer says - well we all used our commonsense over "free travel" to Bury. Nobody wants to leave the situation to chance quite obviously and you can see why. There is uncertainty, there is the probability of delay, there is a lack of thought - not even a few minutes thought seems to have gone into this. The club has dropped the problem into the laps of the fans. Ade is interpreting away like mad how this is going to work but there's nothing on Shrewsweb to back-up what he is saying - and he is not going to be at every turnstile to make sure that is the way it is going to happen. I still completely fail to see what relevance proof of address has to this whole matter. And you can love our Club without loving the way it is run.

sc***horpe about 300+ to the game at cambridge earlier in the season, a short localish game. Sorry, Ian that's a bit like saying we only 1100 to Burton last season so why did we want 13000 tickets for Stoke? Cambridge v Sc***horpe was a Tuesday night in December!!!!!!!!!!!

Thing is chaps you have a situation. The advice before hand was that Scunny would bring approximately 2000 fans, so making it all ticket for them them would seem a fair outcome.
People say ' ah but it shold have been all ticket from the off'. Fine, hindsight what a wonderful science, but two weeks ago Scunny were saying 2000 max, It costs the club a lot of money to do all ticket games, inconviences fans who have to buy tickets, especially exiled ones. Since the beginning of this week, there have been reports that 'loads of ticketless fans' would be coming. As I have stated before normally these rumours get blown up out of all proportion. Talking to my brother whose little lad lives in Scunny, and reading their local paper they reckon 500 fans "might' travel ticketless. This of course despite all the warnings that they wont get in.
I really wonder what some people who are having a pop on here, would do in thesame situation, limited with the constraints of the club. A club you remember is likely to lose £300,000 this season.
So faced with all the reports what do the club do? Do they do what they tried a couple of years back for the Stafford game and make everyone have a membership card. No, that was shot down and rightly so by fans who complained that it was unworkable.
Do they quickly make it all ticket like Exeter did in 2000, knowing that more than 1500 would travel, and remember Exeter didnt know we were going to bring the amount we did until a week before. No, they be pillared on here and other forums.
So faced with an issue of safety, the club stewards and police need to be able to identify spearate groups of fans. To do this some sort of Id would help. No, it's not a perfect solution, and the club arent saying no id, no get in. What they are saying is look. Helps us here, make yourself known that you are Shrewsbury fans, bring some id if you can, it will help you get in easier, and us stop any Scunny fans getting in the Town sections. If you havent id, then fine no problem but you could face delays getting in, whilst the stewards/ police check where you from. That seems fine to me, but no some people will just be bloody minded. And sorry to accuse some Town fans, and maybe people I consider to be my mates of that, thats how it just seems.
People may accuse me of being close to the club, due to my roles with SUFAN, and the Umbrella Club. But I'm sure Keith, Ian and Judy will tell you, if I dont agree with something down there I tell them. But maybe my links have given me an insight into the limitations at times down there, which is why I've been involved in the Umbrella Group and now shrewsTRUST so that we can help them out. Point things out to them, and why things are moving forward. Why our dialogue is working. Slowly at times I know, but defintely with momentum.
People may go on 'uh but we've got to go to the hassle of getting our gas bills out', fine. Yeah I understand. But this is 1 game. I mean christ if you want to open a bank account or get signed up at Blockbuster they ask you for id, or a utility bill to prove id. Yes there will be one or two who will try to get in no matter, sure, but if you can stop the majority isnt it worth doing rather than nothing? If it stops any potential trouble isnt worth doing?
Sorry guys and gals, just going to have to disgaree on this one, but I support the club in what they are doing. I believe that despite some small inconvience this way will mean that everyone who wants to go will see the game, it will stop the majoprity of ticketless Scunny fans getting, and surely that has to be a good thing.
COME ON TOWN!!!

Ade it does seem with every passing post that you underlining point is The club is always right Blue and Amber majority opinian is normally wrong? ? No far from it Pricey. Like I said in previous posts, I know that things arent always right, and believe me I do tell them and let them know, and I have had some right dongs in e mails with people especially Keith and Judy over things, and I'm sure they say would agree. What I'm trying to say is that maybe on this occasion and at times we maybe as fans dont understand the logic maybe of the decisions that do get made. I believe this time the club has got right for the situation they are in. Fair enough if I'm wrong I will come on here on Monday and apologise, and eat loads of humble, and in all honesty as I've stuck my neck out so much have to consider my involvement with shrewsTRUST and the Umbrella Group. I get the feeling though that sometimes people just come on here and anything the football club does it is slagged off with no real thought. Just slagging for slagging sakes. Yes this is a forum for every to express there opinions, and I'm expressing mine. If this isnt the consensus of the forum fair enough, I differ to disagree. If it was all ticket there would have been very few complints and you know it!!! Disagree again Pricey. People would have moaned. And do moan. But again if I'm wrong I hold my hand. Judging from what people have said people would want these games all ticket and that proposal will be raised at the next Umbrella Group (Ticketing) when its scheduled in a few weeks time.

Judging from what people have said people would want these games all ticket and that proposal will be raised at the next Umbrella Group (Ticketing) when its scheduled in a few weeks time. The majority of people do not moan about all ticket games since we put a good strategy in place. In fact, following Chester etc, Town fans welcome decisions as long as they are made in a timely fashion. My simple belief? There simply isn't the adequate staffing resource at the Meadow to deal with all this. The last time a similar argument to this raged, it was about the Barnet game which saw fans paying to sit in the Wakeman stand but having no seat so being put on the terraces, a large set of Town fans put in with the Barnet fans, Town fans turned away from the game, and the gates shut at around 2.45pm as the gatemen and stewards worked out what to do. So no wonder we're concerned.

I think Ade has summed it up perfectly - we're going to have to agree to disagree.
Differences of opinions and perspectives are entirely healthy as long as working them through does not involve belittling the other person's viewpoint.
