I think my fear is that the having stayed up and got Hurst back there maybe a feeling of "job done" at the club and that we head into next season with a reduced budget and hope that Hurst pulls a blinder again in terms of signings and performances. You call it your fear, but isn't this exactly what is happening/going to happen? I mean I could be wrong, but what is the alternative 🤷 Yes I think your right. I've got no inside knowledge of the club or potential investors, but suspect given the difficult last 18 months and the significant hit the club finances have taken there is unlikely to be a buyer willing and able to come in to the club and take over quickly and effectively. We're therefore probably looking at the club trying to find a sustainable short term future without shaking things up too much. The return of Hurst and his likely willingness to work on a small budget and try and uncover some gems for next season provides that safety blanket that things might work out. What I'd perhaps be hoping for is some indication the club as a whole is starting to plan for the longer term, both to a future where the Chairman is no longer around, and also in the modern world of football where costs are rising rapidly, income streams are reducing and previous sources of income such as youth development and player sales are a less reliable source of income than they once were. What will the club look like in 5 years time? What structures need to be put in place to provide stability on and off the field? What realistically are our objectives in terms of league performance in the coming seasons? What opportunities are there to explore new income streams and investment to go alongside traditional match day income?

Some very interesting comparisons for League 1 22/23 season from Kieran Maguire, we spent 99% of our turnover on players 🥹 other points of interest, we’ve made the most profit from any club in league 1 since our inception….. We’ve got the lowest debt ‘zero’ along with Wycombe (PV £8 million debt Oxford £27 million!) x.com/kieranmaguire/status/1783129775550181465?s=12and the guy who spent 99% of our turnover, wanted to spend more and constantly moaned about it the other 2 are decades of good work, almost ruined by the previous stat Seems the twitter link no longer contains the assertion that 99% of revenue was spent on wages. Probably because it’s factually incorrect. A quick look at the 22/23 accounts reveals a turnover of £6.2m and total salaries of £5.7m. This includes all employees at the club including directors of which the accounts list an average each month of 182, with 42 being players. There is no breakdown of salaries between playing and non playing staff either, so any percentage given can only be in relation to total staffing costs.

I know you are just being flippant but its pretty obvious what needs to be said. A statement of reassurance, any reason for the worrying accounts and an explanation of what is being done to try and improve things. Maybe even an insight into next seasons budgets. You know basic communication with a loyal fan base. would next seasons budget have been discussed at the AGM ? why dont you actually ask the club a question instead of doing nothing but moaning I did, after the AGM I arranged to pop to the club and meet the chairman for the very first time. I asked a few questions and got a few answers simple really , they don't bite Just a quick recap: - The club revealed their accounts which showed record losses and their cash reserves were wiped out - The club stated that no communication on this would be issued until after the AGM - It's coming up to 2 weeks since the AGM and there has been no communication - Anyone who questions why this is the case is a moaner and instead should email the club to arrange a meeting with the chairman

Oh good,to save us all piling in and making separate appointments with Roland , Liam and Micky could you get a few answers for me?😁 How long is the managers contract? When are we going to see the new kit When will the new kit go on sale? Who is the new CEO of the Foundation now that Jamie Edwards has left?(Apparently someone from WBA) I'll leave you to ask all the financials,I'm sure you have a list Good Luck even getting someone to speak to you on the phone, especially as we all know that employees at the club have an aversion to picking up ringing phones😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Is it ok to to email after the AGM as was first thought, or do we have to give 12 months notice ?
I’ll email tomorrow to confirm.

I've also had a meeting with the chairman this week, fwiw. Asked him what he thought of the Netflix series Baby Reindeer, he said "it was good but it felt like it simultaneously tailed off and seemed rushed in the last two episodes" and I have to say I couldn't argue with that. He backed The Stranger as one of the finest series of recent years, I'll be checking that out.
No word on the financials, although in fairness that wasn't really the focus of the meeting in the first place so it would be harsh to criticise either of us for that.

Just stating my disappointment in the advertising of it yes I remember at the time someone on here asking if we had any sales team and someone from the club responded on here saying there is currently a vacancy advertised which might explain why a few less important events are not being pushed into our faces at the moment

I am not one to call for statements often, in fact this is probably the first time. Those accounts have been the most worrying thing since I have been following Town yet there has been nothing from the club. The fact you felt the need to question the Chairman proves my point. Are you able to reveal the contents of your interaction?

I was making a suggestion that he might want to contact the club instead of bumping this up every few days That's all Instead we have Arthur scargill trying to make out I'm some kind of miner who needs ousting as he doesn't want to strike and is instead collaborating with thatcher It's a game a football ffs I turn up watch the town and if they win it's a bonus , some people take life too serious and need a wake up call into reality have nice day 👍

I don’t see how you can make it a negative thing that people want just a tiny shred more information about what the hell is going on at the club.

Are you able to reveal the contents of your interaction? I've just read the annual report again. Even if the club was to release a statement I do wonder if it would end up just being a rewording of what's in the report. In other words, it wouldn't tell us anymore than we know already.

I suggested directly to pughy, he stops moaning and maybe contacts the club for whatever it is he want to know, he seems the only person bothered about it and keeps bringing it up you've just twisted it to now to suggest I said everyone who questions it is a moaner The reason I suggested 'everyone's a moaner' is because it's not just Pughy, there have been other people on the thread discussing the lack of comms from the club. But anyway, I still find it laughable that when the club fail to give an update (which they previously suggested was coming), the onus should be on the fans to contact the club. Although the idea of 'if the fans want information, they should make an effort'' is probably how Roland has run the club for nearly 30 years.

If the Chairman is happy to meet with individual supporters then why not do so at an open forum?
At least then everyone would hear the same message from him.
After all, didn't the CEO say he wanted more transparency with the supporters?

If the Chairman is happy to meet with individual supporters then why not do so at an open forum? I still think he missed a massive opportunity last summer. He should have had a forum, explained that Caldwell/Cotterill had put us in the s**t (without going into specifics), said he also holds himself responsible and is trying to put things right but it's going to be a bumpy ride and we need to unite. Obviously it's not going to please everybody but I bet that most supporters would have appreciated his honesty and seen how much he was hurting. It might have also drawn a line in the sand and some supporters would have moved on to concentrate on the future But he didn't do that and the end result is lots of speculation, focus on the events of last summer and anger/accusations thrown in his direction.
