It was a low point of today to see a BNP candidate suited and booted with literature and in Block 16 :-(

Why? I am by no means a BNP supporter, and the said candidate is standing in my constituency and he wont be getting my vote. However, he is standing for a legitamate party (whether you think they should be or not is another story) so why shouldn't he be handing out flyers?

I doubt permission was sought though, which isnt strictly ligitimate.

However, just because people don't agree with his politics doesn't mean he shouldn't be able to campaign or leaflet! (with correct permission!)

So the BNP are distributing leaflets inside our Stadium and you think thats ok Sam ? Interesting.
I would hope the Club reign this in soonest, we all have differing political opinions and a football ground should remain neutral.
Then again isn't it a BNP tactic to recruit fans, I also believe there was an EDL Flag in the away end yesterday.
Must caused a little boner in block 16 that.

Surely the answer comes down to whether it’s ok to do so? Whether it’s against stadium regulations? If they are not doing owt wrong or nowt against the regulations then yes, I think it’s ok. I do think a lot of folk on B&A miss the point. The English simply don't like being told what’s wrong and what’s right, what we can listen to and what we can't, what we can read and what we can't. It's in our history, it's in our blood. We can make my own judgment thank you very much... People resent anyone who look to tell them what they can or cannot read (from any political party, whatever they might well feel about the parties policies). Who is anyone to determine that for me? I'm no BNP supporter but if they are a legitimate party then they're shouldn’t be any more fuss made about them pushing out leaflets at Oteley Road than if it would have been Tory or Labour folk...but I suspect there is... There is a great deal of ‘I don’t defend what you say but I defend your right to say it’ in them Islands. That is something to be proud of…

The BNP/EDL are supreme opportunists so no one should be surprised that their representatives are scuttling around the concourses handing out their filth..fertile ground for them. Don't have a problem with it to be honest as long as other legitimate parties are afforded the same open access.
The ballot box will find them out soon enough.

It was a low point of today to see a BNP candidate suited and booted with literature and in Block 16 :-( Personally I'd have a huge problem with STFC if they knowingly allowed this to happen. How can they support the Kick Racism Out etc campaigns and then let a racist party distribute material? I'm sure this would have been done without permission though, I hope they make this clear in a public statement. No political parties should be allowed to canvas at the footie in my view and I'd think less of any party that did - it's embarrassing populist a$se kissing.

Weren't you harangued by Tory leafleteers (and possibly the main man - although I was in a hurry to get in the ground?) on Tuesday night just outside the entrance to the main gates?
