you know how it's been especially designed by a top designer, who's been mindful of the club's tradition and taken in to account all the copyright issues and stuff ? well - it hasn't he's nicked a clipart image off googlepics (try a search for lion and clipart - it was the third return that came up when i looked) and changed the colours using photoshop - the original image has also been used by craigclowan pre-school group on their website - here it is: can you see how all the black bits in the full colour picture exactly match up with the blue bits on the new logo, except around the dges where the " design expert" has had to trim the mane a bit ? that's a bit p**s-pot, is that, isn't it ?

He's not wrong...."ever get the feeling you've been swindled?". But maybe we should be thankful they didn't copy this one instead?!

i could change the colour version (from the play school website) in to your "professional, image conscious and forward thinking corporate logo" using photoshop in less than five minutes
if the bloke who did that charged your club anything for it, he's had 'em over big style....

it does look the same interesting that this is his 1st post on b &a. i wonder if he has known for a while & came on here when the logo was released? or he's just on the ball, or usually a guest

So according to what that bloke says on the main site, we should really be suing the crap out of craigclowans pre-school group for use of that picture One step back, two steps forward I suppose

I should imagine most lion portraits would look fairly similar, but the two listed above do look like an almost exact match... Thing is, if it has 'passed all the legal checks' then whether its plageurism or not, its kosha for us...

A bit naughty, but no major problem.
The guy who designed it probably has a bit of explaining to do.
Especially if he got a decent fee for it.

Onward and Upwards Rant Over he's not a guest though & he was just pointing out the similarites in the 2 picures. although as had been mentioned on this thread & on another about a lion bar, lion pictures do tend to look quite similar we don't want an ugly lion on our shirts ;D

Open source picture, topped and tailed - seems reasonable, although I hope no-one pretended it was original. It certainly won't belong to the school either.
It passed the legal checks so we are definitely secure for our logo, and it looks great.
The fonts in the logo are also from somewhere else, topped and tailed and changed colour to make them ours - its the way design works.

It was inevitable this would happen, like Steve said not everyone was going to be happy with it.. I thinks its okay Its part of many changes that we are going to have to get used to over the next season, but as long as it drags us into the twenty first century instead of the middle ages that's fine by me....

they dont really look that alike. they are facing slightly different directions, our one look a a bit older and wiser though. one has a "v" shaped tuft of fur at the top of his head. There are no whiskers on our one.the mane on the clipart one is more complete. the greatest difference is the big circle round ours, that was a real givaway and besides all male loins are similar if they looked different then they would be tigers or leopards.

How do we know an image of the lion from the old badge hasnt been used? as it would already been a similar size and colour?
And frankly, this coming from someone who has only just signed up and the first thing they post is slamming the new badge or person / people who created the badge speaks volumes.
Wind up.
