Mossy has played his last game for the Town ( that bit's for ant and welshshrew who appear to have long memories ) and will sign for The Shrimpers later in the week.

Alan's street normally speaks words of wisdom.
I heard that Mossy wasn't happy with his contract offer, so would not be at all surprised to see him depart.

I heard that Mossy wasn't happy with his contract offer, so would not be at all surprised to see him depart. One year on what is rumoured to be reduced terms? Not really making him feel too wanted - which is surprising given he was one of our more consistent performers in the second half of the season. If his existing contract was over-inflated, I can understand reduced terms, but not sure why Simmo feels that only a year is appropriate. Maybe he has seen something we haven't. So, as you say, he seems the most likely to go.

Gone, according to Simpson on the website.
But Leslie signed yesterday, Langmead and Humphrey are about to and Riza has agreed verbally.
Which just leaves Davies ...

Davies is the big one and could turn us from being also rans into CHAMPIONS.

In the eyes of his fellow professionals Ben is the best midfielder in the division.
Sure he has his ups and downs - Thats why he is playing in the 4th Division for Gods sake, at our level consistancy will always be an issue.
In double figures for goals last season.
Think if Ben has the correct players around him he can be huge next season.
Martin one thing is certain he will not be easily replaced, or rather it may be easy but it certainly will prove to be costly.

not to fussed if davies goes ,yes he hits the odd free kick but for me bit of a luxury player goes missing too often when its backs against the wall time.

Do not agree he "goes missing" just think sometimes when we go direct everything bypasses him and the rest of midfield. Answer --------- Play through the midfield more.

Ok then for those who say Davies is so replaceable, who do you suggest we replace him with?

It would be a huge loss if Davies was to leave as he is, as mentioned above, one of the best in the division. Of course he can be replace, anyone can, but it would be very difficult to find someone who is at least equal to his ability and would come to Shrewsbury, and within a reason able price, transfer fee & wages.

Seems odd that we let Herd go and then offered Moss something he refused.

well put it this way , if he signs great but would like a bit more battle from him, ok he's not a roy keane type but your midfielders in our league have got to mix it abit.maybe you will see the best of him a league above with more time on the ball.
BUT THATS ONLY MY OPINON GUYS.

Seems odd that we let Herd go and then offered Moss something he refused. I can only think that's it's a combination of factors.... On the footballing side, Mossy has been solid in defence but no longer offers much going forward. Herd offered more going forward but that led to some hairy defensive moments. I think Simmo might prefer someone who could do both.... Off the field, rumours were that back in January Herd was asking for a big pay rise. Mossy has had fitness/weight problems, and has, in the past at least, enjoyed a beer or two. Allegedly. None of these, if true, would have endeared either of them to Simmo. Maybe Simmo feels he needs a genuine first choice, and a better all-round full back who will cost less than Moss & Herd together - and he was prepared to sacrifice the two of them if necessary to achieve it. Time will tell I guess.

Didn't want Herd, and felt that Mossy was ok but very replaceable.
That would sum up Simpsons thinking?

Well, if as a manager you've got anything about you, you would only be doing this if you've got someone better lined up already. Good news today. Let's hope Ben has been too preoccupied to be worrying about contracts! And that we stand firm over Holt

Mossy has signed for Morcombe today on a very decent package.
Good luck to the guy.

He is rightly and widely regarded as one of the very best players in our division. To lose him would be a massive blow.

I have seen alot of better midfeild displays down the prostar this last season from visiting players. The lad from aldershot was class so was drummond.there was a lad from brentford that looked class too.

Shame to see him go, always liked him even though i don't think we ever saw him at his best - maybe on for a third return at some point in the future a la Mickey Brown?

I agree we dont always play Ben in a position that we get the best out of him but thats down tot he manager and his coaching staff....
If we can retain Bens services and add the 4 or 5 other players to improve the side from last year i.e. goalkeeper, full backs, creative midfield(winger) and another striker we will be earning our 'one of the favourites for promotion' tag
